So there's these two carnies and they both travel in the same traveling carnival. One of the carnies is named Joe and the other is named Igor. It so happens that both Joe and Igor run old-timey merry-go-rounds that happen to have brass poles that hold up the horses. They tend to compete with how many customers their own particular merry-go-round can attract. On top of this, their boss encourages the competition by offering a cash incentive to the carnie who has the most customers.
Now, Joe is a fairly intelligent guy so he keeps his merry-go-round in tip top shape and this attracts a lot of customers. Igor isn't so bright and over time has let his merry-go-round slip into decay. Finally, one day, after their boss gives Joe a hefty reward for winning the cash again, Igor asks him, "How come Joe always gets the cash?" and the boss says, "Because the brass is always cleaner on the other ride!
