Good Guys
I read a lot of theories on Dean concerning 5x14 and just wanted to add my two cents. First of, demons lie. And a theory I'd discard right away is that Dean has no soul. Because what else was Castiel dragging up from hell? And who else would be left to say yes to Michael? Maybe though he was just so very broken in his 40 years, it's too tainted to function properly. First stage of demon. Shut off human feelings. Although, that's not really how it works. Demons crave, they play games, the believe. So cut my phrasing. I dunno how else to say this, except for, well, first stage of demon. ("This is who you're gonna become.")
But what I thought throughout the whole ep, before Famine opened his mouth, and what was hinted at with the previouslies, is that Dean just wants to save lives. This is his craving. And that's what he did. He didn't go into the bar on Valentine's Day, because he'd rather stay home and do research. He was honestly gutted about the death of the coroner. He snapped when Cupid talked about setting his parents up, which ultimately led to their deaths. All he did was care and work and be a good hunter. No distractions. - Very unlike Dean. And maybe he doesn't really enjoy the "simple pleasures in life" anymore just because he's seen too much, been in hell too long. But not because there's something missing. He's just broken and he needs fixing. (From Sam and Cas, but mostly, really, talk to Sam, you moron!) But there's nothing missing that he can't get back.
Is there fic with Castiel going into the panic room to comfort Sam yet?
And anyways, also thought about 5x13 and Anna. I think she timed it really well and jumped into that year specifically, because Dean was already conceived. So killing John wouldn't have hurt him anymore. It's just Sam she didn't want. Doesn't make it right, but redeems her a bit in my book. ;) (And hey, think about it. Dean told her he had father issues. Who knows who he'd grown up to be with only his mom instead. - Which would make for another interesting fic.)
But speaking of fics, really need to finish my Valentine's Day one. It turned out so much longer than planned and it's not even Valentine's Day yet! *lol* Currently torn between using my gift idea for Jensen's birthday instead, or adding another page.
About the ep again. Oh, Sam! He was just so fucking hot, all powerful. And hey, he still resisted, he didn't turn bad. He used his powers for good. He's really not the bad guy, here.
