Last week I found out that my new job (since April) includes two floating holidays that are lost if not used during the calendar year... so my boss helps me figure out what days to take and so this week I have today and tomorrow to use them up. In 72 hours my children come home from the last day of school.

This will be an interesting summer as (a) I work from home 100% of the time now and (b) we cannot afford summer camp for the kids. adelinfdm has plans for the summer, we'll see how the experiment works. :) Luckily I have really good kids.

So, my workstation here at work is slowly becoming the geek heaven (or nerdvana!) that it should be. I have a laptop stand that puts my laptop up at an angle, I have a docking station it connects to and I have a wireless headset for my phone. The only thing missing (and its on order!) is the 19" flatscreen monitor so I can do the dual monitor thing ( Read more... )

So, today was my first day of real work volume (having started taking calls at the beginning of the holiday slowdown). It was a good day. I'm still able to read at work (currently reading Heinlein's book Have Spacesuit... Will Travel) but I'm also challenged: new products, new procedures. Its a blast.

Yes, Rathess is back. A lot has changed since the last time I posted seriously. Things are much better than they were this summer first off. Secondly, on 11/30 I began working directly for the company I'd been doing tech support for for nearly a decade as a contractor.
