This is one of the first icons I picked for this LJ, and is one I use for my alternate not-so-secret identity on LJ as well. First off, I am a huge George R. R. Martin fan, and this particular icon makes me giggle almost as much as the one that says "Every time you ask when the next book is coming out, George R. R. Martin kills a Stark." I also find it insanely useful when discussing fandom wankery.
Another George R. R. Martin quote, although I forget which of the A Song of Ice and Fire books it's from. Much as the icon says, I do love me a nicely-bandied word. I'm a word and language geek, and nothing makes me happier than to play around with words and make them do what I want, except maybe to watch other people play with words. This icon is thus for word squee, and for discussing the use of language.
What else is there to say except that Bobby is awesome? This icon's secondary purpose is to denote sarcasm and "duh" moments.
I don't watch much MST3K, but iconsbycurtana makes the most hilarious icons ever. I also have an epic and tragically doomed love for Oscar Wilde, which makes this even funnier. I use it when I'm feeling silly, and the rare times when I have to get up on my gay pride soapbox in fandom.
Oh, the Dresden Files, how much do I love those books. Harry Dresden, FTW! I am determined to get that one fic finished, AND to write a crossover with SPN. I love the main character, love the snark, and this particular icon uses a quote which has biblical references, as a bonus. How could I not love it?
A quote from another favourite show, which is Babylon 5. Fans of the show will recognize the famous Marcus Cole quote there. My other LJ has a LOT more B5 icons than this one.
It's also statistically significant to note that 4 out of 6 of these icons are from iconsbycurtana, and that the majority of my non-SPN icons are by her. Alas that she is not part of the SPN fandom, but she's in lots of other fandoms, makes fantastic icons, and also writes awesome fanfiction. You should check her out!
