Indeed! That's the question, isn't it? Sam-the-human is pretty good at spotting demons now, so it's not necessarily that Sam-the-dog has any special abilities.

Dogs have a much keener sense of smell than humans anyway, so at the very least he can smell the sulfur coming off Alo, and that would tip him off that she's not a normal human.

Alo is a pretty low-level demon, is my current theory. I don't think Sam could take on a really powerful one in his current state, but I could be mistaken.

Yay for Sammy the demon hunting dog! I just loved the images of Sam and Dean playing fetch. There really is nothing more smile inducing than a dog that's having a great time! And poor Dean. Not even able to play with his dog in the park without being attacked. Good thing Sam had those fangs! Great update.

I loved playing fetch with my dog. You're right: there's nothing more guaranteed to provoke a smile than a dog frolicking and having a great old time.

I couldn't leave the Winchesters alone for that long. I mean, really, what are the odds that they could get through a single day without running into trouble? ;)

Belgian shepherds can be freaking scary. They're big, they look a bit like wolves (to people who don't know much about dogs) and they have very big, very sharp teeth.

Heh. Stalking you, remember? I can't wait to read anything new you do! And, though I'd be commenting anyway, I'm thinking of asking you the huge favor of betaing a fic I'm writing. I've never used a beta before, but the community I'm writing the fic for requires it. I checked out spn betas, but I see lots of betaing requests there and very few have been replied to. And I'd rather have someone I know likes my stories, critiquing and fixing one for me. It's about half done now and at the risk of sounding terrible, I don't think it's going to need a lot of work. So, no pressure, if you can't do it that's cool, I just thought I'd ask.

Sure, no problem! I just need to know how long it is (approximate wordcount) and what your turnaround time needs to be, so that I can be sure I can get it to you in time. I hate to tell people I'll do something and then not be able to deliver because of time constraints.

Also, I work on a Mac, so it has to be in a txt or rtf file so I can actually read it. :)

Heh. My father used to take our Belgian Shepherd jogging in the morning, and she'd run circles around him all the way (she was sweet but not very well trained).

It's not my dog, unfortunately. She died eighteen years ago, but that's what she looked like.

These are all different dogs, just pictures I yanked from Google. Belgian Shepherds are gorgeous, gorgeous dogs.

I'm afraid you'll have to wait for quite a while before Human!Sam makes a reappearance. This story is about getting Sam back, in more ways than one. :)

It turns out that Sam really doesn't like demons when he's a dog. Not that he's a huge fan when he's human, either...

I wanted to give both the boys a bit of a break before I start heaping crap on them in later chapters, and who doesn't love a good game of fetch? ;)
