Blood Bowl!

So yeah, this game is utterly awesome.

I'm currently working my way through one of the single player modes (which is crazy deep), but I'm already itching for some multiplayer action now that I've had a chance to get a better handle on the game. I still find myself making stupid mistakes at times, but far less often as time goes by.

I think I'll start posting accounts of the more interesting games and moments.

Starting with the story of Meinholf "360" Wulf.

Meinholf Wulf joined the new Human team Durnheim's Diggers as a fresh recruit (the account of how a human team was named after a dwarven one will wait for another time) and quickly made his mark in the league and most especially on the opposition.

Coaches noticed his talents for inflicting pain on other teams when he managed to smash an opposing player's hip while charging in to score a touchdown. Training him to refine his mighty blow into something worthy of capital letters, his path to stardom seemed assured.

Wulf had taken his team to two perfect victories in the "Clean Cup" and the "Dirty Cup", and seemed ready for a repeat performance in the "Really Dirty Cup". Unfortunately, in the final game he suffered a broken neck in the first half and was carried off the field. Some say he was crying from the pain, but his coaches knew it was because he wasn't able to injure any of the opposing players (and also the pain).

So shaken were the Diggers that they suffered their first (and thus far only) loss in the history of the team, finishing 1-2 against the Gouged Eye.

Wulf worked hard in the off-season to recover from his injury, and during the course of the next season he not only regained his former agility but became even more proactive in taking the hurt to the opposition, often leaping atop downed players in hopes of injuring them further. He rose to become one of the most valuable players on the team, behind only fellow Blitzer Meinholf Hoffenmeister (who leads the league in tackles) and Catcher Detlef Ruselver (who leads the league in catches, touchdowns, and yards gained).

He took the team to three more championships, racking up many injuries and a few deaths along the way. Unfortunately, he was laid low earlier this season when he suffered yet another injury, breaking his neck once more. His fellow teammates would later swear that they saw his head turn completely around, though he firmly denies it.

Faced with the prospect of holding onto a highly injured, though undeniably skilled, player and the associated expenses, the Coach made the difficult decision to retire Wulf. He was replaced with rookie Blitzer "Stiffneck" Willis, who has shown promising results in his first two games.
