I just watched the final two episodes of this season and as usual with Dexter my reaction involves a lot of *FLAIL!*
On the one hand I'm not sure how I feel about it all wrapping up so neatly, i.e. that Dexter got out of dealing with Doakes because Lilah was also a crazy arsonist psychopath and killed him for Dexter as a gift, OTOH this solution does make sense for the characters involved, and preserves the status quo of the premise.
I think I'll miss Doakes, even though I didn't really expect him to make it. And the scenes of Doakes trying to talk Dexter into releasing him and almost succeeding were great, and I felt so bad for him when he realized that Lilah wouldn't rescue him, but is even more of a sociopath than Dexter.
Also at the end, when Dexter goes after Lilah I thought it was a really fitting tough that he kills her differently, that is when he just stabs her, after paralyzing her, but doesn't do his cutting ritual.
