With all the posts about yuletide and some fans pimping the newly created yuletart (a fanart holiday exchange for all fandoms except HP), I've been thinking about signing up for the latter, but then I read the rules for the sign-up, which ask you for offering to draw in at least ten fandoms, if I understand the sign-up correctly

I would have understood those rules as "five fandoms in which you would like to receive art" and "five fandoms for which you are able to give art" which might or might not be the same fandoms, although you're right about the confusing wording.

But that's not what this says? Even if I interpret the first two as requiring to list just five fandoms in total, the offering phrase says "Any other fandoms you would be willing to give art of" implying that there already are some (how else could I list others), which can only be the ones I listed under receiving? *is confused*

Really ficathon rules shouldn't require exegesis...

The syntax gives off a strong whiff of English as a second language, to me.

I don't think so, at least not all three maintainers. I guess I could just write an email and ask, but I feel kind of stupid to write them that I don't get what they try to say in their sign-up, especially since I'm not even sure whether I really want to participate.
