on Supernatural 2x01 In My Time of Dying...

So the whole Supernatural corner of my f-list is basically a huge pit of squee already *g*, but I can't help but to chime in with my squee as well because...

...the Supernatural season premiere was just awesome. I'm not sure I have ever seen a tv show give its fans so much great and concentrated emotional stuff between the main characters. I mean in moments, yes, but here it was just one scene on top of the other that was just made for fans to flail about excitedly. *hearts SPN so much*

I was completely unspoiled for it, and I think that was great, because it really hit me hard. John! *sniffle* ...how he put Dean's life above his own and even above the quest to hunt the demon, and bargains with it... and the scene where he says goodbye to Dean, and apologizes and tells Dean how proud he is of him, and... *sob* ...and right before that, how he's so weary and tells Sam that he doesn't want to fight with him anymore... *incoherent flailing*

Anyway, slightly more chronologically, the dorky vids in lieu of intro recaps really start to grow on me. I'm not sure I'd want it for every ep, but if they continue to do this with the myth-arc eps, that would be fine with me, because-- LKBV music vids by TPTB! Heh.

Sam threatening the possessed trucker was great, and then shouting at the paramedics. And then in the hospital... I suspected something was weird with Dean of course, not just because he was up and the hospital so creepily empty, but also because frankly I couldn't believe the hospital didn't post guards on their rooms after the arsenal the must have found in the Impala's trunk. Of course later it turned out that they hadn't opened the trunk at all (btw yay! for Bobby helping them out again!). Then I got that he wasn't really there, and thought that in general Spirit!Dean was a very cool idea.

That Sam echoed Dean's word about the mojo was great. Either Sam can hear Dean on some level and doesn't realize it, or they are really in sync, and both explanations show their bond.

Seeing the Impala in such a pitiful state hurt. I mean, the Impala! And Sam not willing to give up on it anymore than he's giving up on Dean.

I loved when Spirit!Dean was angry and pleading with his dad. *sniffle* And when Dean hooked up with that incorporeal woman I totally didn't see it coming that she'd turn out to be the reaper, but that was an awesome twist. I really like the whole reaper thing overall.

Then, the ouija board! No LJ post can contain my squee over that scene. That Sam brings a game, not some truly scary occult thing, that he anticipates Dean's mocking but of course tries it anyway, and that it works! The slumber party comment... just everything.

The whole conversation between Dean and the reaper was great but I loved Dean's "There's no such thing as an honorable death." when he refuses the reaper, and then his reaction when she tells him that he eventually will become what he hunts if he doesn't let go.

And that the demon can't just possess humans but control other supernatural entities was creepy. It's too bad that Dean doesn't remember anything except for that feeling of wrongness, but I'm sure he and Sam will make the connections eventually. And that the doctor tells then an "angel" was watching over him when in fact it was a demon was of course highly ironic. Dean's long suffering look when Sam and John go at each other again, John saying to Sam that he doesn't want to fight anymore, and that then Sam's first reaction is to ask John whether he's alright, because he admits making mistakes... *flail!*

That John tells Dean his secret (or whatever) without us hearing is kind of a cheap shot to ramp up the tension, and about the only thing that annoyed me in this ep, because it's such an artificial hook. Though of course it works and I now wonder whether he told him what's the Deal with Sam is, and/or that he bargained with the demon? Though I suspect that it is the former. But right before that, when John apologizes to Dean, tells him that he's proud of him, and tries to make his peace...that kind of broke me a little. Especially since Dean again asks whether it's really John.

I just can't list all the ways in which this ep was awesome.
