The Birthday Boy!!!

I could just about cut'n'paste the last entry and change the dates.

Car off the road for 2 weeks, blown head gasket, ratshit radiator etc. $1950. Went to pick it up and go and get it registered (one day after the due date) but no, needs 5 new tires. $1200.  This is now about equal to what I paid for it.  But still, it's got 300,000K's on it, and ( Read more... )

Why, thanks, yawl! It was a very quiet birthday this year, but I often think there's lots that didn't make it this far.

Water's starting to go down now, and roads are opening, we have to be careful now with mosquito-borne diseases. No Malaria, but there's a couple of sub-tropical fevers that have spread south. Ross River, Bharma River, and another one I can't recall. Our local mossies aren't the Anopheles type, so malaria isn't a worry. (I expect that takes you back a few years, my ol' medic man?)

The local sewerage treatment ponds were breached, not to mention all the septic tank systems on farms, and of course all the cowshit from upriver, and I was amused/horrified/concerned all at the same time, when I saw local kids downstream playing in the floodwater. They'll wonder why they get sick in a day or two, I suppose.

Sorry to hear about the delayed wedding plans, and the inconvenience with the air tickets. Maybe you could sell 'em on ebay ?? Other than that, it's an unexpected anniversary surprise for you both, s9o why not make the most of it !!

Gotta fly now, I'm expected at the theatre to do something or other. I hope to have some fishin' yarns to tell soon - or maybe some good news. One of the three lotto companies has a $15 million jackpot tonight, and I have tickets. Here's hoping!

keep smilin...........and the best of luck to ya on your lotto.....

yep, I dont know what it is about flood water....kids love to get out and play in it....from a health stand point, it is one of the worst things to do.....but, if you find water that is rushing into the sewers....that might be a different story.....maybe the little bugers have water testing EQ now adays....grin

Well, we've decided to go ahead with the plans to visit them up in NY....and meet Lizs' family....

keep smilin,

its back to work today.....and hopefully next week, I'll be on Jury duty down in Birmingham....for maybe two weeks.....you dont hear folks saying that, I"m actually looking forward to doing jury duty.....grin

Hope your Birthday was a good one for ya.....
