As far as sex:

I think it's much easier when three characters are focusing on the fourth's pleasure and they all have their turn being the center of everyone else's attention.

Trying to write four people touching each other at once is overly complicated -- and tends to wind up with not every character going away fully satisfied.

I think pov is relevant, too. If your pov-character is the one being done, then part of the hotness is that they're too absorbed in pleasure to know precisely whose hand or mouth or breast or dick is doing what at any given moment.

The real trouble is when sex-writing begins to sound like a summary of a gymnast's routine -- which is true no matter how many people are in the bed. Good sex-writing is about lust and emotional resonance, not the mechanics of Tab A & Slot B; so if the emotional power is working, then tracking body parts becomes less important.

As far as the relationship:

Group intimacy makes sense for some characters -- far more sense than a one-on-one monogamous relationship might make, given their particular circumstances. If the writing sells it, then I can believe just about anything.
