Pawn in the Game, part 2

Sep 26, 2005 19:46

In other news of this week (i.e. - before the extreme illness kicked in) I have actually been quite busy and social. During the week hanging out with Ava, watching videos with John - and listning to C.I.A. - Criminals In Action by KRS1 and Zack D.L.R.

I flip this shit like Pacino and it's your dog day afternoon.
Attica, Attica, drug agents you bring your statica.

It's quite freaky actually, that song also mentions the Ho Chi Minh Trail which I am doing a project on at college and is about something I was recently reading in a Noam Choamsky book. Mumia 911 is a slightly cooler song though.

Anyway, since I finiahed college on Thursday I have also been to feed the swans on Great Western Rd. (on Swan Lake as Jenny used to call it when we were in school) which was Thursday afternoon, I was shopping for my Mum's birthday prezzie on Friday morning eventually getting her some classy Benefit make-up as well as travel smellies from the Body Shop for when she goes to America next month.

Went out on Friday night with Kirsty for her birthday celebrations. I met Kenneth on the way there leaping about like a loon in the street - he had had some Buckfast - and said it was rank. Sadly me and Kirstovsky ended up at the Catty. Oh, it was ok I suppose, even though the music was shittles. It's not that I particularly hate the limited music genres they play, more that the songs are so cheesy/ basic/ generic - know what I mean? I love music that has a bit of bloody soul - the closest to that which they played was Rage Against The Machine which was cool but mainly funny because Kirsty didn't know the song and got wierded out when everyone went "All. Hell. Can't stp us now!". Heheh. They also played Taking Back Sunday's Cute Without the 'E' (Cut From The Team) which is cute. Sadly they also played the Foo Fighters.

Saterday was Mum's Geburstag so we went out for a meal with Izzy, John, Gran, Ava and Mum's best friend Mila. Izzy threw lots of food on the floor and other than that I can't really remember what happened after then.

Sunday was Illness Day I have already mentioned, though before I felt too bad Ava was down and we were talking about how sometimes our derranged Gran (who gets mixed up with names at the best of times) sometimes accidentally calls Izzy, Jiggy which is funny in the extreme.

I stole this off storytelling - sorry I steal all you'r quizzes/ randomstuff.
I meant to do 10 but got carried away...

Buck 65 - Devil's Eyes
Supposedly underground Canadian Hip-Hop sounds nothing like any Hip-Hop I've ever heard before. Actually like nothing I've heard before - cool as Jimmany though.

Alec Empire - Killing Machine
Ah, a classic from my Digital Hardcore phase. I still like it though, probably the catchiest one on the album.

The Killers - Smile Like You Mean It
I don't really like this new wave of Garage bands much - but I do tend to like one or two songs by each one (except irritating stuff like Kaiser Chiefs and Franz Ferdinand). This song is okay, a bit boring but I do enjoy going about going "oo-oo-ooo" like the music or "Smile Like You Mean It" in a faux deep voice for randomness.

3 Colours Red - Land Of Debris
A standard catchy British rock song.

Amen - Buy Amenican.
Oh I adore Amen. The needless violence gives me a fluffy glow inside. Not their best song but still a pretty good one.

Audioslave - Cochise
I don't really like Audioslave very much - I adored Rage A. T. M., think Zack De La Rocha's solo stuff is great and love the band's music (Tom Morello for instance is incredible) but other Audioslave stuff is pretty duff. Only the cockyness of this song saves it which is why I'm glad Kenneth gave me a copy.

Red Tape - Stralingrad
Cool hXc/ rock song.

Snoop Dog - Drop It Like It's Hot
I only really like this song because of Pharrell and the awesome percussion. Neptunes preoduced tracks are classy, no matter who they are by.

Nada Surf - Happy Kid
Uber-cutesy indie/ rock. I've had this song a while and it can get irritating but it's okay because I hav'nt heard it in a while.

Stone Sour - Bother
I liked this song for like a week like a lot of boring metal bands out there (My Ruin, H.I.M., ect.). *skipped*

50 Cent - In Da Club
So cheesy but it's cool somehow.

Deftones - Street Carp
I got a bit bored of this when I listened to it too much ages ago but it is a good song. Plus the whole of the White Pony is hot since it's all about sex.

Horrorpops - Julia
Catchy but not incredibly awesome rockabilly band.

Saul Williams - Control Freak
After ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead's Worlds Apart this is definately the second best album I bought this year. This isn't one of the best on the album but it is a great album so they're all pretty good.

Midtown - Help Me Sleep
The only song by this band I have - a really good basic rock song.

...Trail Of Dead - Lost City Of Refuge
Again a good song off an incredible album.
