http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4188/is_/ai_n31116104 Well, that sucks.
Jess is eligible for a full refund although the fact that she registered under a portland address should be updated ASAP (hint, hint).
I can actually sell my membership if I wanted to, which would make sense if I decided to look at other clubs. As I actually want to be working out, this wouldn't be a bad idea if I can transfer it when I move and it's not stupid pricing.
The lady on the phone said this was part of the reorganization and that once the company was stable, they'd revisit returning to the communities it left. No information of this is on the their webpage, so it wouldn't do me much good, now would it if I can't get the information on it.
grrrr
Will be looking into this weekend.
***updated***
Golds Gym is closer and local. They also have a two for one that comes down to about $18 a month. Problem is that they're privately owned and thus membership is not transferable. I want a plan like the one I'm in where I'm locked in for life at $12 a month. I paid a lot up front to get that, so I'm a bit irked right now.
24 hour has memberships nationwide and thus more appeal, but their plans didn't look like they had the lock in option.
So, do I go with gold (closer! YAY) and keep my bally for when I move, or switch to 24? Bankruptcy filing is a concern, and possibly better to get out now as opposed to not...
In terms of facilities, both Gold and 24 look nice online in terms of classes and what they have to offer. Pricing... not as nice.
Also weighing in on this is that Bally has no communication about any of this on their website, which pisses me off. communication is extremely important and companies that dont' have this ability shouldn't be in business, and often take care of that themselves.
Research time this weekend. Maybe do a seven day trial with one, and then a seven day trial with the other and see which we like.
