Postponing the elections

Sep 25, 2008 10:52

You are correct.  there have been no talks of postponing the elections.  Even during world war II we didn't do this and for good reason.

However, there has been some VERY dangerous legislation put in place over the past 20 years or so and activities that are eroding our freedoms.

1.)  Attempts to limit free speech under the guise of "don't burn the flag!!!".

2.)  Attempts to limit possession of arms.

3.)  US troops are now allowed to deal with people domestically.  I believe there was actually a law once preventing that.

4.)  Religion continues to be brought up as reasons for doing things, including irrationally believing someone like Palin is qualified for the job as president because she is religious.  Religion is faith based and emotional, not fact based and rational.  This allows easy manipulation of people.  See Iran from the Shaw to it's current government and the use of religion to ease that transition and secure control.

5.)  Attempt by bush to put what's his face 100% in charge of the treasury with no oversight by congress or the courts, and using this crisis as the avenue to do that thus making him and that position one of hte most powerful in the world.

6.)  The Use of 9/11 to give the president a blank check to wage war.

7.)  the use of 9/11 to give the president a blank check to spy on US citizens without oversight.

8.)  The slow acceptance of torture for "a good cause".

9.)  A news media (fox) with blatant 100% misinformation and yet it's still called news and still on the air.  Yellow journalism has nothing on fox.

10.) In event of undetermined events, martial law can now be declared and the White house has a plan for how that will take place and who's in charge, except that it's top secret and not even congress has seen this "plan".

I could go on.  My "paranoid" brother has actually posted some videos that i checked out.  It made some good points but i sort of laughed at it, except that the conclusion of those points of "the direction it's going is that one person will eventually have total control over the economy and it requires a financial collapse to do so but all signs point to a purposeful movement towards a financial collapse" are coming true with some scary accuracy.

Two things are happening.

1.)  There is a purposeful LONG TERM move towards the erosion of the current system of government.  This is something I've brushed off in the past due to the LONG term planning and return on investment this would require.  A human being wouldn't be that patient.

2.)  People really are becoming dumber within our government and mean well, but really don't have the wisdom of our forefathers to predict the longterm outcome of what they're doing.

Pick your poison.

The evidence to a slow gradual erosion of the government is strong and the label of "lefty treehugging nut job" is applied to anyone who mentions it.

I've been raising eyebrows since high school, and over the years it's become more blatant and more extreme and still people accept it.

So this person said that "elections might be cancelled or postponed" was wrong.  That isn't the case yet... but the scary thing is, I don't think people would be up in arms about it.  I think they'd accept it in good faith and those who challenged would be locked up as terrorists... who can now legally disappear from the face of the earth without trial.

These are the laws that have been passed, this is the erossion of our rights, and this is the direction the coutnry has gone.
