Blazers Draft

Jun 26, 2008 21:14

I was expecting to see more moves, but considering we just drafted the fourth most talented player in the NBA draft... not bad.

We also got a a couple of centers that we'll be stashing overseas and we'll see how they develop.   The story of this draft is that we now have our starting point guard.   I don't see him starting this year, but possibly towards the end of this year or next year.   That's the yay part.

The bleh part is that this pick, instead of trading for Devin Harris like I thought would happen July 9th (still could happen, but not sure we let Bayless go and we'd need to), means that we're going to have another freaking season of "patience" and "They're young".

Why?

We have Bayless, Oden, and Rudy who will be playing some decent minutes for us and they haven't played AT ALL in the NBA.

I'm not 100% that we're keeping Bayless... I think a trade could happen.

Nothing really fancy took place, but overall I'm happy.   If we keep Bayless it's because he's our future.   The kid is definitely good but will most likely need a year or two and he was DEFINITELY a steal.   The trade for him was our #13 pick, Jack, and McRoberts.   Jack was going out the window anyways and for complicated trade reasons it's GOOD for him to go sooner than later.   McRoberts is a SCRUB and Bayless is the FOURTH BEST PLAYER in this draft.   Frigging awesome.  Some think he may actually be the best because he was put into a difficult situation in college with a change of coaches and a change in playing position.

I think I"m going to drop my win prediction down to about 48 with playoffs being a question mark.  If we'd nabbed Harris I would have upped my 50 win prediction to 54.

Anyway, nothing dramatic but VERY happy!
