Last speech of the reception

I tend to forget things rather quickly. It’s what makes me an almost blind optimist, and keeps me from holding grudges against people. If I can’t remember the bad things that happened, or the mistakes of people’s past, I can’t hold it against them. They’re not important enough to remember, anyway. On the other hand, I apparently forget or just don’t even notice the good things we’ve done, and was honestly completely surprised that we were so involved in so many people’s lives. The reason we invited you were very varied. We wanted to have my family be a part of this, obviously. Some of you we haven’t seen in a while and this is a rare opportunity for us to hang out. For some it was a chance to reconnect with old friends. Over all I just expected a nice fancy get together to hang out with my friends, and was quite shocked and pleasantly surprised at the speeches about us. Thank you so very much everyone. Especially thank you to my mom and dad for helping to plan and cook everything, and for providing such great entertainment.
One of the best things I enjoyed about this dinner is looking down the length of the table and seeing so many people laughing, smiling, and enjoying themselves and having such a good time. We are very glad to be able to bring you together, to be a part of your life, and hope we can continue to make great memories with all of you! Thank you!
