Today was pretty much dedicated to meeting up with MilesTFox, the owner of the http://tails.kicks-ass.net website who used to work together with me on collecting and maintaining Sonic content for our individual web sites, and who's site I'm currently mirroring (figured using my own rather proprietary set-up was getting to be too much of a pain, plus it's easier to coordinate sorting and labeling of pictures if we both have an exact mirror of the site. Anyway, it was nice to finally meet him iRL, since I've known and worked together with him for years now, and was nice to meet his roomie (mate possibly?) as we’ll. Miles seemed REALLY excitable though, often talking A LOT and in a rather raised volume whenever a topic came up that interested him, but damn he's smart at techy stuff. Heck, he was telling and showing us stuff that he's done in the past, and it included stuff like showing us his old portable Tandy TSR-80, which looks like a big calculator with a qwerty keyboard, which he apparently upgraded, using assembly language, to boost modem speeds, and wrote an interface for one of those old parallel port to Ethernet network adapters that allowed him to hook the thing up to the network. His other rather memorable project was an ion based jet engine of sorts, which is basically like the Sharper Image ionic breeze, stuffed into a ramjet design, on crack. He says he hooked up a 400 volt power supply to the thing, it exploded out of the shed he was working in, and is still supposedly somewhere in the swamp near his house. He still can't find it.
