Yay! My fears are groundless, and I have hope for the line! Krauncha and Petunia were not getting along the best. She likes to torment him by trying to steal the food out of his mouth, agressively groom him to the point when he starts to screech and during the daytime sleep cycle will hog the crate/home all for herself. The dominance games are fairly balanced. Sometimes Krauncha rolls over, sometimes he gets to dominate. I thought that she wouldn't ever let him mate with her. I've seen her push him away with her back leg, which in rat = no means no. But tonight that all changed. When I fed them, they seemed kinda riled up. Krauncha was chasing her all around the cage. I just thought she stole his food, but I saw that tail lift and Big K jackhammer on her backside. This makes me really happy, I can't wait for rat babies! The Djangolinian line will be continued with the next litter!
If anyone would be interested in a rat companion or two, please let me know. I'm going to do my best to find good homes, but whoever doesn't get taken gets donated back to the pet store. Annie, I think your house in particular could benefit from a rat or two ;)
