Well I pretty much have 2 jobs now... the jewelry business and then the "real" job. One is a little more than part time and the other is a little less than full time. As the date of our first craft show approaches (Sept. 22) I've dedicated more time to making stuff. I've gotten into the habit of making 2 pieces a day. Lately I'll just go straight to the beading table when I get home, even if it's been a long day. I usually only work 4 days a week so that day off is usually a beading marathon. I guess being able to be productive while still watching my favorite shows feels a lot better than just sitting there. In fact, I've gotten to the point where I can't just sit on the couch for more than an hour, because it's wasted time better spent making something.
Oh yeah, the website is up but not completed: www.craftworksonline.com
But the prices need to be updated. We forgot to consider the tax we paid and then the tax we'll need to charge when we sell it (we want to have the tax included in all the prices). I was told that a lot of the prices are way too cheap anyway... I haven't been charging much for time spent making something and just basing it off the price of materials. I figure I can start charging more once we get more recognized. For now it seems like charging $4 for a bracelet that cost $0.50 to make is more than enough, even if it did take me an hour to do it.
I'm not sure how well I'm going to be able to do this business from a distance once I move. Maybe mom and I will take turns having all the beads and supplies. Lord knows I don't want to go from staying in Dallas every weekend to staying in Midlothian every weekend. I have gone through beading withdrawals before.
