Well I guess I should talk about this wonderful job I have. Every photographer has to keep up with their own equipment which is about 10 pieces totaling maybe 200-250 lbs. So yeah, that stuff stays in my car all the time and it BARELY fits in there. I am now unable to see out the back of my car and that's probably what's the most annoying about it. I can carry a passenger but they have to hold my big accessory bag and have a rolled up backdrop and mat sticking out on either side of their head. I think I'll get some of those little mirrors you stick on your side mirrors that let you see more.
Backdrop
Rolled up mat
Bag o' tripods (5)
Camera tripod (So monstrous it gets its own bag)
Camera gets its own case cause it's the size of a computer
Lights case
Stuff for background light case
Power brick thingy that everything plugs into, which fits into a tub that the people sit on
Accessory bag that holds combs, papers, extra film, daily stuff etc. Also the size of a computer
Kneeler - huge thing that the little bitty kids -- you guessed it -- kneel on instead of sitting on the tub. Don't ask me why.
And the dinky cart that folds up.
So far the kids are pretty cool, but I've only been doing schools in the towns around Dallas, like Garland and Highland Park. Apparently the kids at Dallas ISD are brats and do not cooperate well. Like they want to do a gang sign in their picture and talk back. Fun, yeah. I like begging the shy guys/thug wannabes for a smile. Or making them laugh and catching them smiling. Then they really hate me.
My schedule is pretty weird. So far the trend has been that I get 2 days off each week but when I do work it's 10 hours a day and wake up between 4-6am. Apparently we don't really get lunch most of the time cause it's so busy and we have to photograph like 900 kids. School just started this week so I guess I'll see how true that is. So far we have gotten lunch but we've just been doing registration days.
I don't mind having the days off, right now anyway, cause mom and I are really working on the beading stuff. Our first craft show is on Sept. 22nd, then another on Oct. 13th. I'm going to start working on the website tomorrow because a couple of people have asked about it. I took pictures of all our pieces (about 50) so I'll post the address once I'm done.
There's supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight at 1:30... I'm already pretty tired. It wasn't but a month ago I was staying up till 4am. I think I'll haul the telescope up on the hill.
