Title: Ricordare mi Nome
Fandom: Katekyo Hitman REBORN!
Characters/Pairings: Kakimoto Chikusa, Rokudo Mukuro, Joushima Ken
Rating: G
Genre: Introspection, Gen.
Word Count: idk.
Notes: ...So. I don't speak Italian. And I don't know if that's the right way of saying "remember my name", BUT I'LL GO WITH IT. Also, I'm a total Chikusa fag, stfu.
He doesn't remember what his name was Before.
He remembers the name of the Family that nurtured him until childhood. He remembers the names of the parents who sold him away for the sake of the Family's survival. He remembers the names of each and every single one of the doctors who held him down, shot him up, drugged him, set him ablaze, made him a project, tattooed his face and his heart and his soul with the merciless point of a painful needle.
But never his name. His real name. The one he was born with.
He remembers their faces, remembers his number. Remembers the first time he met Ken, remembers the terrified look in his eyes.
He remembers the blood splattered everywhere, remembers the stench of guts, remembers the sound of a bandage being pulled away from an eye, remembers his surprise at the oddness of mismatched irises.
He remembers Ken introducing himself, remembers them both swearing their loyalty. Remembers his own confusion, his own slow realization when he can't offer his own name in return. Remembers the amused sort of look in the heterochromatic eyes. Remembers the shape of the mouth as it formed the three syllables.
"Chikusa."
A thousand forms. A thousand kinds. A thousand causes. A thousand sources.
Chikusa.
And regardless of whether or not it happens to be his real name (and Chikusa has no interest in finding out if it is)...
Well.
It is the name he was reborn with.
