John...

John doesn't like winter

At all.

Hates it, in fact. Hates the cold, hates the sleet, hates the biting wind, hates the snow.

Can't understand what Bobby loves about it so damn much that he's gotta drag John outdoors the instant he sees the first flurries come down.

He doesn't even do anything once they're out there, just sit down on the grass smiling up at the sky like some kinda lunatic, his skin going paler and paler and paler, the snowflakes sticking to his eyelashes and hair and jacket.

And John just sits there next to Bobby, freezing his freaking ass off, wondering what Bobby'll say if he torches one of the trees closest to them because fuck it, he's cold. He can feel his cheeks and nose and ears go red from the wind, and he has to blink rapidly to keep the flurries out of his eyes and overall? Overall, it's pretty damn miserable.

But Bobby likes it.

Likes it so much that he actually nudges his leg against John's and says, "Kinda beautiful, huh?"

John stops shivering long enough to turn slowly to Bobby and give him a steady, incredulous look.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. It's fucking freezing out here, dipshit. - is what he's about to say, only Bobby's skin has gone translucent, his blue eyes glimmering expectantly, mischievously, smiling the half-smile that makes Kitty blush.

John snaps his mouth shut and looks away.

"Whatever. Kinda freaking cold is more like it," he mutters, and huddles into himself a little more, shivering violently enough that his stomach stops being weird.

In his periphery, he can see Bobby blink once, twice, before he relaxes back into a smile and starts to take off his jacket.

"Hold this for me?" he asks John casually, shrugging it off completely and draping it over John's knees. "Too hot for an ice cube to be wearing."

And then he lays back on the snow-dusted grass, looking perfectly at peace, a light smile playing on his lips as he adds, "Thermos of hot chocolate in the pocket."

Now it's John's turn to blink before he pulls out the thermos, wrapping his freezing fingers around it and thanking God for small miracles. And for big ones, like Bobby.

...Even if he does like snow.
