Title: rabbithole
Fandom: Prince of Tennis
Characters/Pairings: Kirihara, Kajimoto
Genre: Dream
Notes: I must have been on crack when I wrote this.

Tonight is the night that Akaya dreams of getting pushed into a rabbit hole by a girl with short brown hair and hairclips and terrifyingly bloody red eyes that taunt him. She reaches out and shoves him back and down he goes, falling and falling and falling inside the space/time warp that is the rabbit hole.

After a thousand years of falling, when he finally reaches the other side, where everything is very un-Munchkinland in black-and-white, Akaya is showed into a palace by Atobe and is told that he has to sit on the ceiling and write a hundred letters of apology to Tachibana Kippei before he can finally use the court out back. So he does, and there go another thousand years as he writes and writes and writes and writes, and Atobe laughs and says that he's going to go dust the music room.

When the letter-writing is finished, Akaya stretches and slumps and walks on the ceiling until he reaches the courts. First, of course, is the matter of kicking out Yagyuu and Niou, who are playing golf with flamingoes as clubs. Then is the matter of digging up his racket from beneath the grass-that-turned-to-clay-as-soon-as-Akaya-touched-it. Which might not have been a problem if Queen Yukimura hadn't kept distracting him with that axe of his.

Then he realizes that, duh, his racket isn't buried under the clay after all; it has been beside him all this time, and Queen Yukimura smiles and faints away.

So he gets up and wipes his dirty hands on his tennis jersey and faces the opponents who are across the court -- Sanada and Fuji. They leer at Akaya when they catch him staring, and tell him that he's been wrong, wrong, wrong all this time. Akaya, in his panic, serves the ball at their knees and plays the not-game. He is losing badly by the time their features shift and he faces off with Kamio Akira and a nameless, faceless Rikkaidai player. This game Akaya wins, and they go to the next one, where Kamio suddenly morphs into Tezuka Kunimitsu.

Akaya reaches over the net to kiss Tezuka-san's hand and congratulate him for winning the World Cup against Jackal and Brazil. And then the faceless Rikkai player becomes a menacing, sneering version of Akaya and smacks his mirror image across the face.

At this point, Akaya is startled into awakeness by Kajimoto's none-too-gentle prodding and shaking.

"You were yelling about rabbits," the Jyousei Shounan player explains muzzily, without preamble. "I felt it beneficial for both of us that I wake you up now."

"Nnn," groans Kirihara. "Din't wake you up yesterday."

"Yes," Kajimoto agrees, slowly falling back asleep on his feet, "But those were turtles."

"Shuddup," retorts Akaya, and promptly falls back into the rabbit hole.
