Why Troy is amazing sometimes.

Yesterday was an absolutely miserable day, but today has already made up for it.
I got myself out of bed and decided to walk to Dunkin for a Sobe Coolata. My hair was a mess, so I threw on a bandanna, and I was wearing men's pajama pants that make me look larger than I am. I was walking down 4th Street, not one of the nicer areas of my city, and first a man said good morning to me. That made me happy and I said good morning back, with a smile. Two blocks away there was an elderly black man standing in front of a building, where another man was sitting on the steps. (I know I shouldn't have to specify that they are black, and Justin gets annoyed with me when I use race descriptors, but I feel that it gives the story much more meaning.) I was a few yards away from the standing man, and he was facing me, so I smiled and said loudly enough for him to hear me, "Good morning!" He also smiled, and as I approached said, "Now, don't be frightened... Don't be frightened, but you're beautiful." I stopped next to him, smiling largely and thanked him gratefully. He continued, "I saw you walking from all the way down at the end of the street. I saw you all the way down at the end of the street *facing the end of the street in example, hand over his eyes to show that he was looking a long distance* and I said, 'Wow! She's beautiful!' And when you got closer, and I saw your smile, I said, 'Wow! She really is beautiful!' " My smile must have been taking up my whole face when I thanked him again. He told me again not to be frightened, that he's 59 years old and doesn't mean any harm by it, but that I really am beautiful. I thanked him again, and he said, "Bless you! Have a great day and bless you!" I thanked him and wished that he also have a great day, and walked happily down the street to get my Coolata.
