Ladies,

I am emailing you to inform you that Wool House, Spanish and French house have had their mattresses changed to extra long this year. Regular twin size fitted sheets will not fit these beds. You should be able to find extra long mattresses at all department stores. The residence halls re-open for all returing students on Monday, September 2, 2007. You may pick up your key at the Office of Residence Life between 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. We look forward to having you back.

I replied with this email:

Sabrina,

I am sorry but I must send a few complaints your way. The notification of the change of bed sizes is unacceptably late. Most students have already purchased and washed their regular-length twin sheets in preparation for the upcoming school year. This waste of money, time, resources and aggravation could have been prevented by a much earlier notification when Residence Life had so much as gotten the notion to change the mattresses. This late in the summer, having been notified a week before the students move in, all students face the chance of not being able to find satisfactory bed sheets in stores. They must also take more time out of their busy schedules, waste more money on this school, and expend more of their limited resources.

All summer Russell Sage has been providing very bad business to its students. I myself have been negatively affected by inadequate Student Services with unpunctual and incorrect Financial Aid information, the random and unannounced disappearance of a class from the roster that I was registered to take in the Spring, and also the notification in late August that I could no longer take a course that I've been registered to take since March because Sage FORGOT to list one of the prerequisite courses.

All of this added to the unwarned and significant tuition increase makes for very unhappy students.

It is also very aggravating that the Sage staff does not know how to use a calendar. All over the website, and even in this email that I am replying to, days of the week do not match up with numeric dates. For an example see in your email where you say that September 2 is a Monday. Are we supposed to move in on Sunday, September 2 or Monday, September 3?

Please try to keep the students in mind. Students today are well-informed and opinionated and will transfer out of college for so many offenses.

Sincerely,

Sarah Oboda
