today i received a CAMEL POSTCARD! I LOVE CAMELS!!!!! just a wee bit less than elephants.... SO A CAMEL POSTCARD IS ABSOLUTELY THE SECOND BEST POSTCARD A PERSON CAN RECEIVE! i love how chill and happy they look walking across the red sand dunes in the arabian desert. lyl said he went to the desert and lost his slipper somewhere in the sand. and he couldn't stand on the sand for a minute because the sand was scorching hot he was hopping around madly! SO I LOVE CAMELS! because the ones on the postcard are smiling their happy camel smiles while sauntering across the burning sands. AAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! camels are so cute.

Here's a happy camel smiling in the abu dhabi desert. don't you feel happy and chill just looking at it?!!?!?!

Not one to be outdone - elephants smile when they're happy too!

Here's a happy baby elephant! so cute!

Today I also had fake xxxl taiwan chicken from the food fair at heartland mall. It was 5 minutes of pleasure and 5 years less to live . I regretted it instantly afterward because i examined every bite i took (i do this to most of my food) and it was literally soaked in oil, covered in flour, skin, fat and there was dark-coloured stuff between the meat and the skin which i suppose had to be remnants of days-old blood. sick.

i. will. not. eat. fried. chicken. again. ok for maybe the next five years. ok next year. tomorrow i will have a mini detox because i meet lulu for a vegan meal somewhere. and she will tell me about all the cancer-causing foods and i will feel doubly guilty about today's damned xxxl chicken. after my vegan lunch i will exercise in the evening. and drink lots of green tea. and ginseng. and eat a lot of fruit. and try to recover some of those lost 5 years.

P from internship sent me an email from Turkey! at that moment, he had actually taken some time to gossip with M about me while knowing that i was talking to M at that same moment. and of course boys being boys have to do and say mean things. so he told M some things i did, taken totally out of context, and M then started teasing me about it. and then P sent me an email and called me a clown. hai. how do all these make sense? well, they did make me laugh...

at night we drove mummy to the airport because she's flying to china for a few days. we had crystal jade at the airport and it was good. as we hung around waiting for the others to come i remembered how much i loved the airport! big and nice and exciting.

oh! yesterday i met faith for a mini food trail! we went to keppel road bak kut teh which was really one of the best bak kut teh i've ever had in my life. then we walked to amoy for the fish dumpling hor fun and ended off with ice teh tarik. then, we burst.

Faith and Fantastic BKT

We tricked the fullerton koi into thinking we were fish food.

also, here's today's sunset. the sun was sinking in a massive fiery red ball. i only caught it as it went behind two strategically placed HDB flats.

Yesterday as I took the mrt (ON WHICH WE STILL CANNOT FREAKING DRINK WATER OR EAT A DAMN SWEET - WE HAVE BEEN REDUCED TO PRISONERS IN OUR OWN COUNTRY) to meet faith, this middle-aged Indian man walked in with his wife. he looked like the typical Indian gangster - long dyed blond hair, sporting a thick chain and scruffy clothes. after he sat down he turned to a chinese uncle who had entered the train with him and they both conversed loudly in fluent hokkien. Occasionally, Indian gangsta uncle would turn and translate the funny parts of the conversation in tamil to his wife who would laugh and nod in mutual understanding at hokkien uncle. Only in Singapore.
.
This, by the way, is not in response to the cheesy national day songs blasting everywhere across the country and the relentless bombardment of NE messages on every mrt train and station and spamming of NDP scenes on every national channel. Evidently, I am no longer a patriotic Singaporean. I just like the quirky bits and the food which is undoubtedly the best in the world - no question about it.

work, friends!, home, holidays, elephants, adventures!, yumyum
