TWD 2x09 - "Triggerfinger"

Feb 20, 2012 21:45

some thoughts, in more or less chronologic order:

  • Lori's still alive. Damnit.
  • Daryl wants to stay in his (tastefully decorated) sulking corner. Alone. Take that, Carol.
  • Hershel: "I don't want to shoot, doesn't mean I can't." ♥
(Where have I heard this before? MacGuyver maybe, but also something else... I'm wrecking my brain here.)
  • Rick & Co. continue to kill the living
  • ...and the still-living-but-wounded get eaten alive,
  • ...or if they're lucky, get their limbs (half) cut off. Because it's the humane thing to do. (*yuck* I was trying to eat during that scene. A little bit more consideration please, show.)
  • so who are the good guys, who are the bad guys? tough question, after the bar fight.
  • Shane finds Lori - I'm really trying to like, or at least not hate Lori, but *argh*
  • Andrea otoh. *thumbs up*. I may not like all her decisions (like her buddying up with Shane), but I do get her reasons (and Shane's, up to a certain point), and I approve of her making her own decisions, and doing her part of the work.
(I just realized I have a thing for Laurie Holden's voice, so Andrea has that in favor. Whereas every sentence Lori speaks sounds to me like she wants everyone to know how tragic her fate is and that she alone carries the weight of the world; not sure if that's just SW Callis' voice, or part of the role, and I'm trying not to hold it against the character.)
  • and now I feel like I'm neglecting Carol, who's still my favourite female character so far, but she didn't do much in this ep beside Daryl-wrangling, which she's getting pretty good at though. *g*
  • speaking of Daryl: look who stopped sulking! (did he comb his hair? it looks... strange.)
And who has new bolts - did he still have spares lying around somewhere, or are we supposed to believe he made them himself out of some sticks?
  • Hershel vs. Shane: Oh Shane, you really can't win in this ep.
  • the sound of Shane stroking with boths hands over his shaved head deserves a mention.
  • end of the gathering: everybody pairs off. Rick + Lori, Andrea + Shane, Maggie + Glenn, Daryl tries to escape Carol.
  • Shane: "I should have left the group back then" - Yes. I still think Shane is mostly an unbalanced asshole (with some valid points that nobody wants to hear), but I do feel sorry for him. He certainly would have been better off far away from Rick and Lori.
  • Rick + Lori comparing their bruises *lol*
  • Lori: "Shane is evil (but I'm not to blame at all for anything he might be thinking/feeling)." Rick, I don't envy you.
ETA 2: I feel like I'm too harsh on Lori. I'm honestly trying to give her a chance - because I think Rick is a good guy + I want him to be happy + want to like the woman he loves, and Lori is one of the main characters in TWD and if I keep watching it I'll have to deal with her, and last but not least because it's always harder for female characters and they deserve every chance; but again and again what she does, and how she does it, just... pisses me off. No matter if I blame the character, or the writers, or the actress (who I actually like in interviews and behind-the-scenes stuff), I fear Lori + me just isn't meant to be.

2 of the 3 guys in this pic don't need a haircut.
1 of the 3 guys in this pic needs to lose his sleeves.

ETA: ...and the answer to the question is: Methos. *g*
("Just because I don't like to fight, doesn't mean I can't.")
