You think you want a meaningful life? You don't want a meaningful life. You want an easy life, a comfortable life; you want to have your cake and eat it too, you want all the benefits of spiritual practice (inner peace, deep calm, abiding joy) without any of the effort. Happiness isn't something you reach for or something you find, so the sooner you learn to stop looking and be disappointed with what you find, the sooner you'll realize that the only thing disappointing you is your own unrealistic expectations. If you want to be happy, the first step is the incredibly painful one of no longer allowing those desires and expectations to color what you see, to stop forcing reality into this or that mold that happens to suit your fancy. Let it be as it is.
