If your God is an old man in the sky, he's dead. God is dead as long as you think he's alive, fear he's alive, believe in him, don't believe in him (though in that case it's more of a living death)--you think God is something other than this, here, now, and that's why you're so scared, that's why you're so dissatisfied, you're in love with your illusions and too lazy to pull down the shades and let some light and air in the room. You're waiting for something to happen, waiting to pin it on divine intervention or the random chaos of a godless universe, but you're failing to understand that it's not about external factors, it's not even about causes and conditions, it's about your own ignorance, your own stubborn refusal to see everything is impermanent and love is the only commandment. Maybe if you practice seeing it that way, maybe then you'll discover God, whether you believe in him or not (as though it mattered).
