But the loose locks and close-pulled in hair in #2 softens and partly conceals the elegant lines of face and jaw so visible in #1. This happens in the filming too, actually- somewhere in the surrender scene I want to (cue Makeup to) brush Gou Jian's hair back because it's obscuring his three-quarter profile and making his neck look fat.
Personally I prefer the second one, mainly for the hair and the texture of his clothes.
