So, I've got finals next week and a frightening amount of reading to finish. But tonight my bible study did our Secret Santa thing, and one of my leaders had me. One of the things she gave me was a copy of Francine Rivers' Redeeming Love, and I made the mistake of starting to read it. I'm already 81 pages in and can't stop, which is bad, since I've got homework due tomorrow and all that reading/studying I mentioned. But it's just so good! It's a fictional re-telling of the book of Hosea (which I'm going to read after I finish the novel), set in 1850s California. Not only does the main guy, Michael, pursue the girl like a good Christian man should, but he's "six feet...Dark hair. Blue eyes. Broad shoulders. Every inch of him lean and hard. He walks like a soldier. When he smiled at me, I felt it all the way down to my toes." Granted, that was one of the other prostitutes describing him but DANG--where can I find one of those? It's pretty slim-pickings down here, since most of the guys are still rather immature, not to mention atheist or agnostic and into heavy partying and various forms of debauchery. I've got high standards, and I'm not settling for anything less than I deserve, or less than what God intends for me.
So that was a little random, but I felt like sharing that. Seriously, I can't stop reading.
