Ficathon! Whooooo!!!

Jan 06, 2008 19:51

Okay, I'll probably regret this, but I want to sign up for abouttwoboys.

The idea: Write a J2 adaptation of a romcom movie (and yes, there will be chick flick moments, Dean!)
The problem? THERE ARE TOO MANY AWESOME IDEAS! Here is the massive list thus far. So, to help me narrow down the choices, I've selected some of my favorite plot bunnies and I'm going to have my flist vote on them, just to help me get an idea where everyone else's interests lie. I'll probably figure out what to sign up for later tonight or tomorrow, if the one I decide I want is still open...

Must Love Dogs:
Jared is recently divorced from his wife, Sandy. His well-meaning yet kinda douchbaggy friend Chad thinks he should move on, so he puts up a profile for Jared on PerfectMatch.com and includes in the description "must love dogs." After a string of disastrous (but hilarious) dates, Jared thinks he's never going to find Ms./Mr. Right, until he finally meets Jensen. After a rocky start, they seem to hit it off, but is Jensen really Jared's "Perfect Match?"

Funny Face:
Sandy is the assistant editor of a glitzy New York fashion magazine, and she wants to find a new 'look' for the magazine, something both 'beautiful' and 'intellectual.' She enlists the help of famous fashion photographer Jared, and together they seek out a model who can "think as well as they look" and also a place to conduct the shoot. They pretty much take over a bookstore in Manhattan owned by Jensen, who finds the whole idea of fashion shallow and ridiculous. Sandy decides to use Jensen in the 'test shoot' just to shut him up, but Jared sees something in Jensen and convinces Sandy to make Jensen their new feature model. Jensen reluctantly agrees to go along because it includes a free trip to Paris, but as they work together more and more, Jensen starts to fall in love with his photographer.

Barefoot in the Park:
Jared and Jensen are newlyweds. Jensen is reserved and a bit straight laced, while Jared is outgoing and carefree. Jensen just got a new job at a law firm, and they have moved into a tiny, shabby new apartment. It's the middle of the winter and the heating is broken, there's a hole in the skylight, and their bedroom is literally a closet. While trying to adjust to their new life together, they hit a few snags, then a few more, but in the end they rediscover why they fell in love in the first place.

Legally Blonde:
On the night Jared proposes to his long-time girlfriend Sandy, she not only turns him down, but she breaks up with him, saying she needs someone "serious" when she goes to Harvard Law. Determined to win her back, Jared resists Chad trying to drag him into their fraternity's crazy parties and studies until he can pass the LSATs and follows Sandy to Harvard. While there, he struggles to fit in and win Sandy back, but in the meantime he catches the eye of one of his TAs, Jensen.

Center Stage:
Jensen is the premier male dancer of the Dallas Ballet Company, but he's nearing the end of his career. He knows the company is trying to transition him into a member of the faculty, since he now spends half his time on stage and the other half in the studio, teaching younger dancers how to perfect their dancing. Jared is the new company darling who is being groomed to take Jensen's place. He just transferred from the San Antonio Company, but so far he's not living up to expectations, and the pressure of being perfect is starting to take the fun out of dancing. It's up to Jensen to whip him into shape, but behind the sting of jealousy he's starting to feel something else for the young dancer.

Music and Lyrics:
This choice is the second to fall off the list now, due to somebody else taking it.
Jensen had a career as one half of a songwriting duo in his best friend's band, Kane. That is, until the band split up, Christian went on to become a solo sensation, and Jensen became a has-been. He's never been able to write because he's never found anyone else he fits with, so when international singing sensation and crush object of teenage girls everywhere Chad asks Jensen to write a new song about his break up with teenage-groupie-wife number four, Jensen has no choice but to find someone to write the lyrics to his music. The unlikely solution appears in the form of his dog sitter, Jared. He's a little goofy and unpredictable, but they work surprisingly well together. That is, until Chad threatens to destroy the message of the song they've written together.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith:
No longer an option because someone has already claimed it. I know, there's still one slot open, but I'd prefer to write something that nobody else is writing.
Reopened as a choice because apparently the writer is making it Sam/Dean, and I wanna make it J2.
Jared and Jensen are a couple who have settled into the routine of suburbia. Their lives revolve around curtains and mortgage payments and block parties, and they've grown bored with each other, wondering where the spark went. Their only solace is found in their jobs. Unknown to each other, they are high-priced assassins working for separate firms. But when their identities are discovered and they're sent to kill each other, they wind up joining forces and rediscovering the spark all over again.

Bridget Jones's Diary:
Jared is a young single guy struggling to find a career and Mr. Right in Texas. His best friends Sandy and Chad are well-meaning but kinda crazy. His parents try to set him up with a family friend, Jensen, but it goes disastrously wrong and they end up hating each other. Then Jared thinks he's struck gold when his charming and flirtatious boss, Tom Welling, seems to return his long time crush. But now that Jared and Jensen have met, they can't seem to stop running into each other! And he and Tom can't seem to stand each other, which only confirms that Jensen is bad news. But then Tom breaks Jared's heart, and he starts to see a different side of Jensen.

Miss Congeniality:
So they're not called pageants, they're called 'scholarship programs.' After a coalition of fraternities sued the government for equal rights, stating it wasn't fair that pretty girls got to go to college based on their looks without the same benefit for boys, the pageant company was forced to open an 'equal opportunity' all-male pageant. But the backlash was fierce, and now the pageant is receiving threatening letters. They call in the FBI for help, and after assessing the situation, they assign Agent Ackles to go undercover as a pageant contestant. He is less than thrilled with his assignment. Former male model Jared gets hired as the pageant consultant charged with the difficult task of transforming Jensen from rough-around-the-edges FBI agent to GQ coverboy. Between the pampering and strutting and arguing and trying to find a place to conceal his weapon during the swimsuit competition, Jensen starts to realize that they make a good team, and maybe more.

ETA: Music and Lyrics is nixed from the list due to somebody claiming that after I posted this poll. You can still select anything and everything else from the list, though. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is reopened as a voting choice!
