Breathe Easy, Look Pretty, Love Deeply.

I want to gush for a minute and say that I have the best boyfriend in the world. I've been having a rough week anticipating the trial of my newly arrived BiPAP (an upcoming post in itself), so on Monday night, after he had worked all day and done his laundry, Aaron drove the 2.5 hours to my house to help me through my first night. (Un)fortunately, because he didn't arrive until after 10:30 p.m. and because my mother wanted to be present when we first tried the machine, we didn't use it until the following night. Him being here meant so much, though.

Tuesday started out like every other day in Latrobe with us. We woke up late and were loading my chair when Aaron had to help Zachary care for a mangled Gretel, who was bleeding steadily from her face. Although nobody but Gretel knows what happened, all signs point to a groundhog bite. Zack and the dog left for the vet's office, and Aaron and I made our way to the Coffee Bean Cafe. While drinking our usual beverages and sitting at our usual table, we decided that we needed to find something different to do.

No good movies were playing and I had just been to the mall, so I joked that we should drive to Shadyside (Pittsburgh) and go to Sephora. To my amazement, the idea was well received, and all I had to do was convince Aaron that (a) I knew where I was going and (b) that driving through Oakland is much easier than driving through downtown Pittsburgh. I navigated us to Shadyside error-free -- the most difficult part being finding parking -- and basked in the sweet smell of beauty that is Sephora. Apparently, as my boyfriend's bloodshot eyes proved, not everybody enjoys the aroma of walls of fragrances and cosmetics.

For Aaron: "The name Sephora comes from the Hebrew name Zipporah, a Jewish convert that became the wife of Moses. Zipporah can mean either female, little bird, or beauty as well. 'Sephora is a name that is synonymous with beauty. Zipporah is a biblical name; she was the wife of Moses and the daughter of a nomadic chief. She was renowned for her exceptional beauty. Sephosis the Greek term attributed to beauty and vanity and the combination of the two words became Sephora.' - SOS Science of Sephora Education Manual. Alternatively, some articles have suggested that it is made up, to appeal to women." -- courtesy of Wikipedia

I quickly found the Smashbox lipstick that had eluded me in D.C. and began searching for a hand mirror so I could test my future purchase. Acting on impulse while passing the Shiseido display, I also decided I needed an eyebrow pencil for my over-waxed brows. Happy and content, I made my way to the register and was about to pay when I was intercepted by Aaron and his damn debit card. I fussed and tried to ram him in the calf but to no avail. He paid, and I begrudgingly thanked him. I couldn't stay mad for too long, however; the make-up doesn't deserve such negativity (and I was too busy trying to explain to Aaron why it's more cost effective to buy a set of brushes for $42 rather than a single brush for $25).
