My birthday was Tuesday. I'm 22. If you know me, you know why that is a big deal.
My day started with birthday e-mails from Uncle Jeff and Uncle Dave, a call from my mother ("Happy birthday, Anna. Although you're not 22 until 4:45 p.m." Yes, thank you.), a call from my father (Impressed? I was), and a call from Gram (who was very upset she didn't beat my father, whom she despises).
After class and lunch, I was going to take a nap before my birthday evening out. However, just as I was getting in the lung, my phone rang. It was a flower shop calling to make a delivery.
Of course my mother had sent flowers. Why wouldn't she? She had already sent me two e-cards (one from her, JoeT, Zack and Gretel and one from JUST Gretel) and a gift card. And she had called three times. I called her before the surprise arrived and was contested with, "It's your birthday, and I'm your mother."
45 minutes later I received a bouquet of red tulips (she always gets me red or pink flowers because my birthday is so close to Valentine's Day). Half an hour later I received another bouquet - of balloons. Great. Because I love attention from people passing my room.
But it's my birthday, and she's my mother. I love her.
By now I had to get ready for my McBirthday dinner. As usual, I over-dressed. But I can't not dress up on my birthday, not to mention for a birthdate.
Aaron arrived around 7 p.m., dressed in my favorite corduroy jacket. Much to my surprise, he had made me an awesome card. Please notice all the tiny details, including Stick and the yellow Tommy shirt that I love so much. Aaron and I are made completely out of construction paper, adding to the special- slash crafti-ness of it all. It is the best birthday card ever.
Also, he wrote/is writing me a song. I can't wait to hear it.
A quick photo before we left.
The pony here is Pinkie Pie, whom we got at McDonald's. I got a bit too excited about my little pony, leading to a now fierce hatred between her and Aaron.
Throughout my evening I received many calls from family and friends. Thank you to everybody, especially April, MattClark and Morgan. It was a happy birthday.

While at dinner, I was serenaded by Mark DiBarry and wished happy birthday by Angie Marshall. Apologies for earlier omitting such a special moment. Thanks, you two.
