Another crossover idea.
This time, it's Sword of the Stranger and Bleach mixed together. *amused smile*
Rarou and Nanashi both die after their last battle in the fortress and find themselves in Rukongai, where they have no memory of their former lives as humans. There they begin a new bond of friendship, while fighting for survival in the violent, jaded environment of the 50th Rukongai District.
Common people tended to avoid places that Rarou and Nanashi lived in because they had an enormous level of reiatsu that suffocated them when they got near. In fact, hollows began gathering to the area since their arrival, so Rarou and Nanashi was used to an environment where they had to constantly hide. Soul Society dispatched more and more shinigami to the area to dispose of the growing number of hollows.
Eventually, Rarou and Nanashi were discovered while they were attacked by a hollow and were saved by a visiting Captain that sensed their presence. They were then recruited to the Shinigami academy and both received high marks during their time there as students. They were so advanced in their studies (even in kidou, although Rarou was better at it, Nanashi used it more often since Rarou hated it) that they graduated early.
