Nomination REVISION time!

Feb 11, 2014 16:06

WOW! Check out our amazing tag set so far! RIGHT HERE. There are over two thousand women included!

Now begins the time (until Feb. 15) when we take feedback from you and make any necessary changes to the tag set before signups. Here are some known issues or changes:

-- There are a handful of characters who may lean more towards the GQ/Gender Fluid side of the spectrum. Due to lack of fandom knowledge and modly cisgender privilege, we may be missing out on some major fail. If anyone knows more about any of these characters or GQ/Gender Fluid identity that would point to a decision in either direction, please let us know and we'll do our best to resolve the issue. Potential examples of this that we know of are Xavin (Runaways) and Illyria (Angel: The Series). The litmus test we're trying to go by is essentially: would the character consider themselves eligible (and feel comfortable with that eligibility) for a fest that arbitrarily assigns them the gender of woman?

-- Due to overlapping tagging practices and a generally overlapped fandom base, we have combined Game of Thrones (TV) with A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martin. The combined fandom tag is A Song of Ice and Fire - All Media Types. This is being changed back due to significant characterization changes.

-- Dragon Age (and it's sequels) have been nominated several different ways. We have combined them into Dragon Age - All Media Types.

-- Hunger Games Series - All Media Types has been combined with Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins. The final tag is Hunger Games Series - All Media Types.

-- If you know of another set of fandoms that would benefit from being combined, please let us know.

-- Comics fandoms remain without an easy solution, however nominated characters appear to be showing up in any fandom that they have been previously tied to within the archive. Therefore, Rachel Summers, for example, appears under Marvel 616 and X-Men Comics, despite only being nominated in one. Because of this glitch and general confusion over comics fandoms, we’re leaving the comics category as nominated this year, so you’ll see larger categories of Marvel 616 and DC Comics both, as well as categories for titles within those universes. If there is a character who has already been nominated that you would like to see, read, or write in another fandom, let us know and we'll add the affiliation. That way Kamala Khan, for example, could be written and requested not only in Ms. Marvel, but in larger worlds as well.

-- A few characters avoided being tied to fandoms! Help these characters find a home: Astrid Zexis, Madelaine "Maddy" Strassen, Nettles (PQ), Nyssa. If we don't find a home for dear Nettles (PQ) before the 15th, she will be cut from the tag set.

And, as ever, if you see something, say something! From duplicates to spelling errors to numbers that prove that a nomination should or shouldn't go through -- as much as we're able to, we'll fix it.

COMMENTS ARE OPEN. When an issue is fixed, a mod will reply to the top comment with "Resolved" or a question if we need more info to fix it. Please take a moment to read through the comments to see if an issue has already been resolved or brought up. IF YOU ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH A CANON/FANDOM, PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST CHANGES IN IT AS THESE MUST BE CHECKED WITH SOMEONE IN THE FANDOM REGARDLESS.

Update: 2-12-14, 7:45PM CST: At this point I believe I have replied to all open requests and resolved all issues that needed addressing. If your issue remains or you have not heard from me, please post another comment replying to this entry or to my reply.
