Heh, no big - I'd guess most of the people who beta'd also wrote something (but that was not me this year).

Maybe, maybe not? I never write for exchanges myself, but I regularly beta for friends who find the structure of exchanges motivational.

Pfft, betaing is supereasy when a story is kickass to begin with. (It's like inking a sketch: all the power and grace are already there, beta just helps tidy a smudge or two.)
