Alexander Trilogy - Mary Renault
I will be pleased with a story about any of these women, set in any of the three novels in the series (Fire from Heaven, The Persian Boy, Funeral Games). I have a few ideas to give you about each character; I do not expect a story which incorporates all these ideas! Perhaps you could write a story about Kleopatra as a child, and her relationship with her mother (who clearly preferred son to daughter)? Or Kleopatra’s life after she was married off to her uncle? Or a story about Roxane’s adjustments to being the wife of a Great King always on campaign? Or about Roxane after Alexander’s death? Tell us more about Eurydike’s childhood. Why did she develop such ambitions? How did Olympias manage being left behind when Alexander went on campaign to Persia? Tell about her schemes - tell about her frustrations with his letters back home. How did Sisygambis manage the household while Alexander was away? What did she think of his letters to her?

King Must Die Series - Mary Renault

Summary
I have a few ideas to give you about each character; I do not expect a story which incorporates all these ideas! What did Aithra think about Theseus’ adventures in Crete - or his carrying off Hippolyta? Show the Cranes in Crete from the female perspective. Chryse and Pylia clearly are very different characters; what did they really think about one another’s very different relationships? Tell of the plot to overthrow the Minotaur from Ariadne’s viewpoint (ie where she is something more than the passive love interest of Theseus). I’d love something which showcases Hippolyta as more than just an adjunct to Theseus - perhaps about her life with the Amazons before she and Theseus met.

Once again, I have a few ideas to give you about each character; I do not expect a story which incorporates all these ideas! What about the events of the book (and her husband’s friends and students) from Xanthippe’s perspective? How does Arete adjust to Myron’s return ‘from the dead’? How did Charis react to Aretes’ death; was she aware her mother and baby brother might have survived if Alexias had brought home his earnings as a model instead of using them for Lysis? Thalia’s views about marriage and the different expectations of her two husbands.

Jean Robertson series - Janet Sandison

Summary
I would really like something set during the first or third books - perhaps an adventure ‘up the Burn’, or something involving the Adairs. I would prefer some kind of ensemble piece which shows the interrelationships between characters, if you feel up to writing that kind of thing. I don’t care whose perspective the story is written from; it doesn’t have to be Jean’s if you prefer someone else (e.g. Maisie or Isabel). Alternatively, why not write something from Doris’ perspective? What does she think about the changes in Lochfoot since she previously lived there? What does this insightful adult see/think of the interplay between the children?

Summary
Gen preferred - a nice twisty plot that shows Machiavellian machinations with a surprise ending please (ie something with a mission). As before, I have a few ideas to give you about each character; I do not expect a story which incorporates all these ideas! Show us an op from Diane’s perspective; doe sshe think it’s all worth it? How about an op where Laura takes the lead (before the one that gets her killed). Why is Karen Milner in any way attracted to Neil Burniside, given the way he treats her? Show us Jean Wellingham as the power behind the throne. Alternatively, Marianne organises an op despite Neil’s opposition.
