Hi I am new to AO3 and just can't work out how to nominate using the tag set. Can you explain?

I see Doctor Who (New) in the noms spreadsheet right now--if I wanted to nominate characters from Classic Doctor Who, would those fandoms merge or count separately?

Cool, thanks. Would the TARDIS be eligible for either, then, since she appears in both?

re: comics nominations - I was planning on requesting two characters from DC comics, both of whom have been nominated, but under different tag sets (one in DCU - comicverse, one in Batman (comics)). Would these tag sets count as different fandoms when sign ups come around, and if so, would I have to request one more character in each tag set if I wanted to request those characters?

Also, I know the two-character minimum request is probably there to increase potential matches, and I totally understand that on the offers side, but how set in stone is that on the requests side (ie. what if I really only want fic about one particular character in that fandom)?

Thanks - I doubt that will be the case (the character I'm most interested in is the main character of her fandom, so I'd be surprised if anyone offering the fandom didn't offer her; plus, from the looks of things so far, at least one of my planned requests is going to have quite a few offers), but I'm willing to take my chances.

I may end up duplicating one of the characters under the more general tag set; if they end up being wrangled together, it won't matter either way, but it might make it easier for people (like me) to request the characters they want while keeping it in the same fandom.

Also, just to double check - I'm assuming a request/offer of 'any' means any nominated character, and not any female character in that fandom regardless of nominations?

In the rules post:

On the AO3 request/offer page, each user will be asked to select a fandom from those nominated, and from that fandom select "any", or up to six names from those nominated. Each user should request in three to four fandoms with at least two women in each fandom, and offer in at least three to four fandoms with at least two women in each fandom.

I'm about to nominate, but several of my planned nominations (books) have only one named woman in the entire fandom. I would really like to be able to nominate, offer, and request fandoms with only one woman in them.

If I wanted to nominate The Tomorrow People, could I combine the two versions (1970s and 1990s) in one slot? There are only six major female characters between the two series.

I think they are technically separate because although they were developed by the same person, for the 1990s version, he went more or less back to the drawing board. I suppose if they were all written together it would technically be a cross over. Which I suppose answers my question, doesn't it?
