Steven really can just be summed up as a 'classy derp'. He is shown in the games as mature, but also quite child-like, in some aspects. Raised by the head of Devon Corporation, Steven learned when to be polite and courteous, primarily to deal with future business partners and the like. Steven had to keep his appearance and manners on a constant incline. When it comes to rocks, stones, and gems, however, Steven drops said maturity and goes on rants and lectures about the seemingly important earth-like substances. Once he realizes this, however, he soon recovers. He even asks the main character if they think of him as a 'rock-maniac' after one of their conversations.
Even with this side of him, though, another side comes out when asked to battle. Suddenly serious, asking the main character to give it their all, no holds barred and the like. It's no wonder he was the Champion not too long ago, considering this attitude when battling. Never giving up, not holding any punches, Steven's rise to the top is no real shock.
Steven also seems to have a case of wanderlust. He was born in Hoenn, has a villa in Sinnoh, is seen wandering the Johto region (and presumably the Kanto region), not seeming to stay in these areas for long, with the exception of Hoenn. He leaves for these regions hunting for new and rare stones, while also on the hunt for two legendaries from Hoenn, Latios and Latias. His fascination with them seems a bit strange at first, but it turns out they're attracted to a gem-like orb named the Soul Dew. So really when you think about it, Steven is easily motivated by rocks, gems, and any other item like them.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Steven is a normal human being, which comes with it's own, typical set of strengths. There's nothing abnormally strong about him, he is fairly fit, and has a team of Pokemon that help him where his weaknesses lie. They can move boulders, fly him to areas faster than he can walk, and various other things.
Likewise, it comes with a set of weaknesses as well. They're pretty cut as paste. The typical weaknesses that a human has and all that. The only thing that could be considered a bonus weakness for him is his love for rocks. He will do anything, even use his Pokemon to climb waterfalls, just to get a rare stone. In a sense, that recklessness can be considered a weakness.

He'll be arriving with his team of Pokemon, which is currently Skarmory, Claydol, Cradily, Armaldo, Aggron, and Metagross.
