Gabrielle has found and raided the library, and can now be found sitting in the main room with a pile of books close at hand, reading. She seems fairly absorbed in her current book (one on French history, written after her own time -- she is searching for familiar names and the fates connected to them) but would, as always, welcome company.

Gareth, passing, offers a cheerful, "Good day, my lady!"

[rareradiance]

Gabrielle looks up, smiles, gives a nod. "Hello."

[sirbeaumains]

"How do you do?"

[rareradiance]

"Passably well, I suppose. And yourself?" She asks in the way of someone who actually wants to know -- human company is something she appreciates more and more.

[sirbeaumains]

"Oh, I'm doing well, too. It's so sunny! --but I don't think we've met?"

[rareradiance]

"We haven't, no." She stands, aware that continuing to sit with her books is not especially polite, and offers a hand. "Gabrielle Durand."

[sirbeaumains]

The hand he takes, but bows shallowly over it rather than shaking it. He straightens and smiles brightly. "I'm Gareth."

[rareradiance]

That's much what Gabrielle was expecting, as men shaking hands with her has been something she's found terribly surprising about this place, and she smiles. "Pleased to meet you."

[sirbeaumains]

"The pleasure is mine, my lady. What're you reading?" With a little nod towards her books.

[rareradiance]

"History, although this particular history is the future, for me."

[sirbeaumains]

"So you want to find out what happens?"

[rareradiance]

She nods. "I have been doing my best to find out what will happen -- happened, I suppose -- to a few friends of mine. Those whose fates would be recorded, anyway."

[sirbeaumains]

Earnestly, "That's a good idea."

[rareradiance]

"So I thought, when I began. I'm beginning to wonder if I truly wish to know."

[sirbeaumains]

"I hope nothing bad will happen, my lady. I don't know how to offer condolences for misfortunes that haven't happened yet."

[rareradiance]

She shrugs. "The worst has happened already."
