A/N: hi! this is my very first exchange (how exciting) so i hope my recipient can enjoy this as much as everyone else :)

“Tao, honestly, I swear to god,” Kyungsoo sighed in exasperation from his perch atop the large bed, that was decorated with leopard-print pattern bed sheets as per Tao’s demands. He just wanted to hurry up and go to sleep, he was tired and his patience was waning. However, Tao was denying him that at the moment by lingering at the door.

“I saw it Kyungsoo! Honestly I did! I swear it on my Mother!” Zitao cried from the doorway, half hidden inside the room as he watched the dark hallway like a hawk in terror.

“You saw a trick of the light, Taozi. Now get in bed.” Tao didn’t move.

“Where’s Baekhyun-hyung’s old baseball bat? I want to feel safe.”

Heaving another sigh, Kyungsoo climbed off the bed and padded towards the younger Chinese man. He took Tao’s hand in his and tugged slightly. “Ghosts don’t exist.”

Tao looked down at his tired boyfriend who was looking up at him with beseeching eyes. “I think it was that ghost that ajumma was talking about, with the messy hair and hollow eyes!” He stated ardently.

“Tao.” Kyungsoo said with tired authority, pulling on his boyfriend’s large hand again and Tao gave in with a deflating breath.

He stepped away from the door frame, closing the door behind him and making sure it was locked, something Kyungsoo scoffed at. For as long as Kyungsoo has known the Chinese exchange student, he has always been afraid of ghost stories and tales of haunting spectres in the night. (And bugs but that’s a bit different.) Unfortunately, Tao is quite gullible. Tell him any story that involves wailing banshees and mischievous demons and he’ll believe it. Everyone tells him he is being silly and ridiculous, but Tao won’t have it. No matter what his friends do to ‘help’ (help being making him go through a haunted house that one time, telling him he should conquer his fear head on), he still hasn’t got over his fear. It’s frustrating for Kyungsoo because he’s one hundred percent sure that their newly built flat is not haunted in the slightest. (“It doesn’t matter when it was built, hyung! It can still get haunted!”)

Tao got settled in bed, bringing the covers right up to his chin, as if it would shield him. “Honestly you big drama queen, come here.” The elder tugged him closer so Tao folded underneath him in a tender embrace, and rested his chin atop Tao’s fluffy midnight hair. He stroked his large shoulder blades gently over a plain cotton shirt, “there are no ghosts, just relax,” he whispered to his boyfriend.

“I love you, ge,” Tao whispered against Kyungsoo’s collarbones and Kyungsoo silently burst with affection. Tao was always the affectionate one out of the both of them; vocal about his feelings whereas Kyungsoo was the opposite, quiet and unable to communicate his feelings properly. Their friends often commented saying it was a miracle that they ended up together. But dating Tao helped Kyungsoo be more open, and thus, he pushed Tao back, and bent down and kissed him gently.

The younger was taken by surprise, gasping when soft lips pressed against his without warning. But before he could relax, Kyungsoo had stopped, smiling at Tao sweetly in the dark. A bit confused, he smiled back automatically. “Because I’ve got you, ge, I’m not so scared,” he confessed with a kittenish grin. Kyungsoo surged forward unexpectedly again, hand roaming up the younger’s neck to rest against his chin, the very tips of his fingers tickling short dark hair.

Tao panted at the intensity of the kiss, clinging onto his partner’s old shirt as if for dear life, little buzzes of electricity crackled under his skin. Kyungsoo kissed harder, tugging Tao impossibly closer to him. Then they parted, the air between them thick, and Kyungsoo breathed out a shaky sigh. “Go to sleep,” he whispered, settling back down on the bed and closed his owl-like eyes. Tao smiled wider and closing his eyes too, breathing out, letting go of all the tension and fear.

When he woke up the next morning, he woke up feeling rested, content, and relaxed. The aroma of breakfast wafted through the doors and halls. Tao thanked whatever God was there for an amazing boyfriend like Kyungsoo, who would get up early every morning without fail, to make them both breakfast. He heaved out of bed, half asleep, and blindly trudged toward the bathroom. There was a muffled call of ‘good morning’ from the kitchen, and Tao grunted back in reply.

He isn’t as scared in the morning, ghosts can’t hide in the cold light of day. It doesn’t stop his imagination from running wild though. However, the monster that he did fear which prowled in the daytime… was bugs. Since it’s autumn, he’s not too bothered. Summer is a nightmare; flies coming in from every window and flying into every corner. Creepy crawlies appearing in their home to take shelter from the heat. During those times, they take out every bug killing/trapping device they have. Kyungsoo still isn’t sure why he’s so scared of these things and why they shake him up so. All he knows is that Zitao is petrified of them and a petrified boyfriend is something he doesn’t want.

When he had finished washing his face, he appeared at Kyungsoo’s side, much more awake and cheery. “Ge,” he sang, “let’s go on a ice-cream date!”

Kyungsoo sighed as he served up their rice and kimchi for breakfast and handed it to Tao. “We went on one the other day, Tao-yah.” The younger inhaled a deep breath of warm rice and delicious kimchi and placed them on the table.

“You can never have too many ice-cream dates, hyung.”

“It’s October.” Kyungsoo deadpanned, handing Tao a pair of chopsticks as they took their places on the floor.

“Hyung!” He whined, putting on his best puppy dog eyes. Kyungsoo glared at him briefly before he huffed ‘fine’ and Tao began to happily dish out breakfast.

Their ice-cream date of course, went smoothly. That is until Chanyeol and Sehun joined them (Kyungsoo suspected that there had been text messages revealing their location to their ‘friends’. Not that minded of course, only this was supposed to be a ‘date’) and began a mini food fight over so stupid bet or something, until Kyungsoo threatened them with certain death. Tao told them about the ghost sighting earning a snort from Sehun and a guffaw from Chanyeol. They proceeded to tease him, riling Tao up ‘till he was red in the face and very almost screaming. Kyungsoo tried his best to control the situation but there was no stopping the pair, he was glad Baekhyun hadn’t tagged along.

Afterwards they went to Chinatown to do shopping and of course, Tao stopped to talk to the kooky grandma who ran the Tarot stall. And the more they talked, the more ghost stories she told him. Kyungsoo didn’t need to be fluent in Chinese to know she was stringing a load of bullshit, but Tao being Tao, was falling for it. He quickly tugged him away, telling him not to believe such nonsense.

Later on, in the evening, Tao insisted he could see a so-called ghost again, hiding behind his boyfriend in the bathroom whilst they brushed their teeth.

“For goodness sake,” the elder said through a mouthful of foam. “That grandma was telling you nothing but lies because you are so gullible!” He emphasised his point with a poke to Tao’s chest.

“I saw it! For real!” Tao cried, staring down the hall with rapt attention, waiting for a flicker, a sound, anything. “She’s gonna’ feed on our souls to get her eyes back!”

“Just brush your teeth and forget it.” Kyungsoo gritted out, rinsing and leaving the bathroom.

“Hyung, don’t leave me!”

When they were settling into bed, Tao couldn’t get comfortable, staring out into the darkness, tense and uneasy. Kyungsoo couldn’t sleep knowing Tao was so distressed and scared, so he rolled over and tugged him his back into chest. “I wish you wouldn’t believe that silly old woman,” he whispered to his boyfriend. Tao didn’t relax however, even as he took hold of Kyungsoo’s hand that was resting on top of his chest. With no reply, Soo shuffled even closer, placing his chin on Tao’s broad shoulder. He delicately placed kisses where he could reach and that’s when Tao let out a shaky breath, the tension leaving.

“It’s weird…” Tao whispered, looking over at his owl-like boyfriend as best he could at the awkward angle. “When you kiss me, I’m not so scared anymore.”

Kyungsoo looked at Tao’s cat shaped eyes, shimmering in the black. Then, he hauled himself up and leant forward, placing a tender kiss against the other’s curved, plump lips.

Tao stuttered with surprise at the intensity that such a soft kiss could create. Tao said something along the lines of ‘hyung’ or ‘ge’ but it was so quiet and soft, Kyungsoo couldn’t really hear properly. It didn’t matter anyway as they kissed again with more pressure and assertiveness, a hint of ferocity lingering on the edges. Long fingers skipped away from their companions hand and down his arm to find purchase in the loose fabric of Kyungsoo’s shirt. The elder’s own fingers wound up in soft, inky hair and they gathered themselves closer together still. They continued to kiss, softly and slowly at times but fast and rough the next; heat building and building between them.

Eventually, they separated, breathless and full of fire. Usually, it was Tao who initiated activities like this. Coaxing Kyungsoo endlessly until he gave in and took control. But it’s not entirely unheard of for Kyungsoo to start something. They shifted so the Kyungsoo was sat on top, straddling Tao’s hips, holding himself up with a hand either side of Tao’s face. He watched the other’s eyes swirl with dark desire. Tao’s fingers held onto his partner’s forearms, trying to catch his breath even though it was pointless. Because in the next moment, Kyungsoo was kissing him again. He nibbled on Tao’s full lips causing his breath to get caught in his throat.

“Ah - hyung,” he moved his focus from lips to chin, to neck, and finally to collarbone. Tremors tingled all through him; Tao was always fond of love bites, his neck was a sure fire way to get him excited.

A hand slipped up Tao’s shirt, resting on the soft skin of his stomach, before travelling lower towards the waistband of his boxers. He slid past the elastic and under the cloth to his prize, holding him gently. Stutters fell off his trembling lips and eyes slid shut. The elder leant back, to admire his work; damp parted rogue lips and a rosy hue dusting Tao’s cheeks. He smiled fondly at the little stammers and twitches in Tao’s face, and he swept the hair off his forehead lovingly with his free hand. Ebony eyes turned to him, pleading and desperate, “please don’t tease me.” Kyungsoo smirked.

“Alright then, Tao-yah,” he hummed quietly, going in for the kill. Long limbs thrashed about in odd angles, lips were caught between teeth and skin was tugged taught under nails. Breathing got harder, turning into sharp pants and hisses between teeth. It didn’t take long for Tao to become undone, untangled at Kyungsoo’s hand. He lay boneless under his partner for a moment whilst Kyungsoo did his best to clean, but he couldn’t really be bothered (something Tao would’ve turned his nose up at if he was in any other state of mind).

“But what about you?” Zitao puffed, watching as the shorter climbed back into bed and gathered him up in his arms.

“That doesn’t matter, Taozi,” he smiled, raking his (clean) fingers through silky obsidian hair.

Tao smiled back. Kyungsoo was too good to him. He’d make sure he would repay the favour tenfold in the future. “Can you do that every time I get scared.”

Kyungsoo’s expression turned into thunder in an instant. “No.”
