“So, you said you had a surprise for me,” Hermione began, smiling at Charlie across their dinner table.
“That I do,” Charlie said, putting down his fork. “Dinner was delicious, by the way.”
“Thank you,” Hermione said with a blush. “But come on, Char, what’s the surprise?”
Charlie laughed. “Did I have you on the edge of your seat all day?”
“Well, if you must know, your Floo call was such a tease.”
“I do love teasing you,” Charlie retorted, enjoying the way her cheeks flushed. “Come on, I’ll show you in the bedroom.”
Hermione quickly stood and with a wave of her wand, she sent their dishes towards the kitchen sink. She would take care of them later.
As she reached Charlie’s side, she let out a giggle as he scooped her into his arms and carried her towards their bedroom. After dating for three years, and being married for nearly six months, Hermione had decided that she would never tire of Charlie’s playful attitude.
Charlie dropped her on their bed, laughing when she squeaked in surprise. “So, I got this done today.” He began to unbutton his shirt, Hermione’s eyes glued to him as he began to reveal his chest. Removing his shirt, he turned around.
Hermione gasped.
There, next to his tattoo of the Hungarian Horntail was now a small Welsh green dragon. The two dragons were curled against each other, as if they were cuddling.
“Charlie,” Hermione whispered. She reached up, lightly touching the magical tattoo. “It’s beautiful.”
“I figured it was time I got a tattoo for you.” Charlie turned around, a mischievous grin on his face. “Though, I suppose I’ll be needing to add a little, baby dragon soon, hmmm?”
She gasped once more. “How in Merlin’s name did you know?” Hermione asked. “I only just found out I was pregnant yesterday.”
“My mother was pregnant quite a few times as I was growing up,” Charlie answered with a shrug. “I just had a feeling.” Taking Hermione’s hand, he pulled her into his arms. “I love you,” he said, nuzzling her cheek.
Hermione smiled. “I love you, too, Char.” She hugged him tightly before tackling him to the bed, eager to celebrate the growth of their family by one.
