Ficlet: Best Friends Forever (Cormac/Pansy)

"Get back up, you idiot! Stop it! Please!" Pansy screamed down at the second year who was hanging off the Astronomy tower balcony, waving his hand at a wand that was just out of his reach, gripping onto the railings by hooking one of his feet round.
"Stop worrying, you think I can't grab that? What do you take me for! It's not like I'm going to fall." Cormac replied, sounding testy.
"But, you know, you could just summon it, you've still got your wand. You don't actually need to-" Her tirade was cut off by a girlish squeal from the boy as he lost his grip and fell head first.
Pansy screamed and watched him fall, almost in slow motion. She shook her head, coming to her senses, and looked around to find something to help...His broom!.
She had never flown properly before, just messing around on Cormac's father's broom which they used to steal and fly around the garden. Jumping on, she flew out the window and soared down but she couldn't see him, not in the air, not on the ground...where had he gone.
"Over here!" He yelled. She turned and saw him, gripping onto the edge of the balcony with just a few fingers, he looked like he was about to fall again. Pansy turned quickly in the air and zoomed over to him, yanking him onto the back of the broom. He had tears in his eyes and was holding his head and groaning; it had a rather large lump on it and was bleeding profusely. Through all this, though, she noticed he was holding her wand in his hand, he'd managed to get it.

"Of ALL the STUPID things..." Pansy screamed, storming into the hospital wing, after making sure Madame Pomfrey was far away.
"Oh yes, I'm so very sorry," Cormac said, sarcastically, laying on one of the beds. "Of course, perfect Pansy would never do anything so stupid. Perfect, pious little Pansy."
Pansy was taken aback by his venom and, for once, completely lost for words.
"You've been this way since we were kids, always thought you were better than me, you're just a bitch." He snarled.
Though something she usually reserved for making her parents do whatever she wanted, faking of course, Pansy burst into tears, real tears, she'd had a very emotional day and that had really been the last straw. Her cheeks immediately turned pink with embarrassment, she hated people knowing they had got to her. Cormac softened; he hated seeing her cry. Pulling her up, a little roughly, onto the bed, he put his arm around her.
"I'm sorry Pansy Posey," he sang, snuggling up to her. "I just wanted to get your wand back, and you never appreciate the things I do for you." He handed her back her wand and she touched the tip of his wand with hers. Red sparks flew out of her wand, and green from his, intermingling.
"Because you're a moron," she replied, teasingly, snuggling back against him, enjoying the hug from her very best friend.
