Summary: Anthony plays a trick on Michael that puts him face to face with Daphne.
Author's Notes: This story happens during OotP. Michael and Daphne were really interesting and extremely chatty characters. I had to cut myself off before creating a whole AU storyline for them. Enjoy!
Michael had been tricked yet again by Anthony. He had been amused by his trick at first, but soon he learned he was locked out of the Ravenclaw common room. He was wearing only a towel. The worse part of this was that he couldn’t figure out the answer to the riddle that would allow him entry and safety. He needed to enter his common room before the Inquisitorial Squad found him and deducted points from Ravenclaw. He started to pound on the door loudly.
“Come on Ant! The joke is over. Please let me in. I can’t figure out this riddle.”
“There’s a surprising admission.”
Michael turned around. Daphne started to giggle when she noticed he was only wearing a towel. He blushed; a tinge of pink could be seen on his cheeks. He made sure the towel was secure around his waist. “What are you doing here?” he asked her.
“I should be asking you the same thing, but since you are standing outside your common room I can only surmise you’ve been locked out. I believe you’re in direct violation of educational decree number 24.”
“That’s the decree regarding to forming of student organizations.”
“I know that.”
“How am I violating that decree?”
“Isn’t it obvious? You’re attempting to create a student organization for students who enjoy standing outside their common rooms naked and past curfew," she replied, attempting to keep a straight face as she spoke.
"I'm not naked."
"Close enough."
"You can't be serious."
"Well, then you're violating decree number 45."
Michael grumbled. She was right. He could argue, but he knew that wouldn't get him anywhere. He smiled as an idea came to mind. He approached her and strategically placed an arm around her shoulders. "Come on Daph. You can let me off this one time. I promise I'll never do this again. I lost a bet," he told her. He started to massage her shoulder gently and he smiled when he noticed she was enjoying it.
"I'm sure you won't, but it's my job to uphold these decrees."
"Oh come on! You love me!"
"I do not! Now you're in direct violation of decree number 46."
"Which decree is that?"
"The decree stating that members of the student body cannot flirt with members of the Inquisitorial Squad in hopes of escaping punishment. Read the fine print Michael," she retorted as she showed him a piece of parchment with said decree. She snatched it away from him before he could actually read what the parchment said. She had lied. There was no such decree, but he didn't know that. Michael smiled at her sneakiness then leaned in for a kiss. Before their lips could meet she pushed him away.
"Fine! I'll let you off this one time, but if I catch you in such a compromising position again I won't be so lenient."
"Oh thank you! Thank you! You really do love me."
"Sure," she replied sarcastically as she walked off.
Michael watched her leave. Suddenly the door to the Ravenclaw common room swung open and Michael stumbled inside, promising himself he'd see Daphne again soon. He then proceeded to go up to his dormitory to put on some clothes.
