Hello everyone - hope you're all doing well. :) We know several of you are somewhat confused by Challenge #4 (that's what she said) and Challenge #6 (threesomes), so we're going to attempt to clear things up for you.
The "that's what she said" challenge is taken from memorable episodes of The Office. 99.9% of the time the phrase is meant as an innuendo and is said in a humorous vein. We recommend that you watch
this short YouTube video to get a better idea. If you do plan to write for this challenge, just know that you don't necessarily have to take this direction - you can write angst or darker fics if you so wish.
For Challenge #6, we want you to extend your ideas for rare pairings to a grouping of three people. We simply use the word "threesome" to describe this, for lack of a better word, and while we realize this implies a sexual relationship, we would like to discourage you from writing sexual situations. Perhaps think of it as a "triad" - or just plainly, three people. Together. ;)
Hopefully that makes some sense to you and you feel more encouraged to participate; please ask us questions if you're still confused.
Also, we wanted to call your attention to a very valuable resource. Some of you have said that you have trouble writing characters with accents, and so we want to share
manu's
Dialects and Accents in the Harry Potter Series, an (almost) comprehensive guide. It has just about every character with an accent, with the exception of Mundungus Fletcher (waah!). The link is also available on our community info page. I'm sure this will be of great help to you, especially for those currently working on their winter exchange fics! :DD
Whew, long post - my apologies. Have a great day! :)
