There have been a lot of spammy comments on LJ recently, so LJ has this new policy where if your comment looks "suspicious" - that is, contains offsite links (and there are possibly other criteria, but that seems to be the major one affecting LJ-ers who are not purposely being "spammy") - then it will be marked as such, and won't show up normally. At the top/bottom of the comments, where you usually see the Post a new comment button, the creator of the post will then see something that'll say something like, "Read 1 suspicious comment." You have to click on that in order to view the "spammy" comment, and from there you can mark it as not spam, and it'll show up normally. The commenter themselves has no control over the "suspiciousness" of their comment once it's been marked as such. The tricky thing is that when you, as the poster of the entry, get, say, an email notification, it doesn't say whether that comment was marked as suspicious. (Which is a problem with a post like this, and I totally wouldn't have noticed there were comments marked as suspicious until they were asked about.)

It's good when you are faced with actual spam, though.
