Your AP American History teacher sounds exactly like ours. I never ended up taking the class because of it. I opted for AP English instead.
You have a Mr. Greene (special emphasis on the extra 'e' at the end!) too?! Who teaches sophomore english?! That's just plain crazy. Mr. Greene was my sophomore English/AP World History teacher.
Spanish should be easy enough for you- especially first year. And with your being familiar with Latin (and taking Latin), it should be a breeze. It's the upper levels that tend to get more difficult, mostly because Spanish tends to have a lot of 'rules' that other langauges lack (not including English, of course).
SAT's are fine, especially if you're used to AP tests. Just remember that the essay is 20 minutes, not 40 like in AP tests. I managed to forget about that cut in time. Oops. I still scored well, though.
And as for math, if you enjoyed algebra and disliked geometry, you'll definitely enjoy pre-calc/trig. I took it last year and had a good time.
Have a great school year! Sounds like you're taking a lot of interesting classes! I wanted to take 1st year German, instead of Spanish III, but was unable to because of my scheduling. I plan on taking Latin in college, however.
Really? He was actually the one who recommended I take the class.
What?! That's insane. Our Mr. Greene doesn't teach any history classes, but... wow. I guess that's yet another coincidence of our lives. XD
Latin ought to be an enormous help. I've heard about the "rules" of Spanish, but it can't be much worse than English, and I'll have my dad help me. :D
Yeah, I think the SAT essay's about 20 or 25 minutes, but I think if I divide my time well, it'll be fairly easy. Also, in my school, some of the teachers tell us what to expect for the SAT essay -- Mr. Greene offered an extracurricular course on it, and a last-year junior said it helped.
That's a good sign, then. Math is easy for me as long as it doesn't involve too much area- and volume-calculations.
Thank you! I wish you the best of luck with your college essays -- other than that, I hear, senior year is a breeze. I highly recommend Latin so you can better understand other Romance languages and perhaps read the original works of the Church Fathers. :D
