Fireworks, Independence
Was surprised how anxious I got about the party last night. I'd never met Ed in person and I knew no one else. Really dragged my feet getting out there. It was really easy to find but the security system threw me off. Texted Ed for help then decided to check out a bar that was a few blocks away. Pretty dead with the fireworks going so all I did was watch them on TV. Would have been fun to be down there but the sea of people would have made it ick.
Leaving the bar I gave the security system on more shot, got in! Stupid technology. Was a small group but fun. Finally met Ed and chatted with three or four people there. Decided to head out around midnight. Ed said I could hook up if I went to the Phoenix so I considered it. Yet that was the bar I'd already went to so I decided on another one just down the road, Nowhere.
AndrewFashion was there. In the whole big damn city, there he was. Nic and Ellen were too, so I snuck up behind Nic. When AF noticed me his aura snapped with surprise and alarm. He was talking to an Asian and a really cute guy, which he turned towards, putting his back to me. A little disappointing but whatever. I got a drink and chilled out in the back.
AF did approach me after a while. I told him I didn't want to interrupt anything. Nic and Ellen decided to head out, but AF has stuff on his mind. We talked outside over a cigarette. Took a while but he finally got the whole “Just want to be friends.” speech out of the way. I gave him my usual “Not sure how long it will take me to be just friends.” thing. We walked to the next club where I gave him some melodramatic good-bye production. Was sad walking away but I know it was the right thing to do. Also realized that it was another tie to the past severed.
Timed the train very well and was home a little after 3am. I was really nervous about the neighborhood that late but was pleasantly surprised. There were a number of people out. Took a quick shower then passed out. Unfortunately the room I'm in gets LOTS of light so I woke up around 6:30am to put a shirt over my head.
Was really slow about getting up but I got a load of laundry done. Jacob from last night found me on Facebook so I got to thank him. Missed a call from Zaq so I need to call him back. Also have a first date with an Art from online. Then there's Jonathan sometime during the week. And I need to check in with Jeet.
It is a lot more work out here. Feeling on track and in motion though… it's great.
