Goodness. The weekend isn't even over yet, but I feel a need to make a squee post. With the anniversary of the Battle of Hogwarts and end of the war, it's been fascinating to watch the characters deal with this in their own ways. I've smiled and cried, and I think it's so moving because we've watched these characters grow before our eyes during the last year. We've been able to read them since the dust was just starting to settle at Hogwarts, when they were being treated for injuries or learning about friends who hadn't survived the war, and, during the last year, we've been taken on this amazing journey with them.
I'm a player/Mod here, so I'm definitely biased, but I think the cast here is just phenomenal. The attention to detail, the realism they bring to their characters, the development of their characterizations, it's just brilliant. Some of our current cast have been here from the start while others have joined along the way, and I just look forward every day to see what's happening next with all the characters. A thank you, also, to those players who are no longer here with us for taking the time to participate in the past.
In my opinion, all of the threads posted here are great, and this weekend is no exception. However, there are some that I want to fangirl specifically for moving me in some way or another. Still, I'd say read them all because you'd be missing out if you don't!
The Weasleys and how they're dealing with the loss of Fred, especially
when Ron and
George visit Fred.
Harry visiting Dumbledore's tomb was so emotional and beautiful. It almost could have been a missing canon scene.
Draco lighting candles for himself and Vince and
Greg visiting Vince's grave were wonderful explorations of friendship that used to be but changed.
Anthony receiving an owl that forces him to deal with things that he'd been repressing and then going to visit
Terry, Lisa, Parvati and Padma. Sibyll talking to Albus by the lake was touching.
Eloise and others lighting candles as they think about those who were lost.
Rita's thoughts about 'what if' and her desire to move forward.
Robards treating it like any other day.
Neville and Pansy and
Luna and Greg spending time together.
The friendship of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, and how they're pulled back to the flat to be there for George but also to be there for each other. And
Oliver's restlessness and the way his father understands him is just great.
Seamus and Dean dealing with it by getting pissed is just so perfect.
Susan trying to deal with the anniversary while also taking care of her parents was heartbreaking.
And the case that Hestia deals with that reminds her (and us) that the war ending doesn't end prejudice and hate.
Wow. I think I might have ended up listing most of the recent threads but, well, what can I say? They're amazing. More than one of them has moved me to tears, and I look forward to seeing what happens for these characters in year two. I'm honored to be part of this cast and having the opportunity to play with all of you. ♥
